Brentwood Home is a U.S.-based bedding company founded in 1987. The company made the switch to direct-to-consumer retail in 2012 and now offers a variety of bedding accessories and mattresses online. Mattresses currently on offer include the Oceano Luxury Hybrid, the flippable Crystal Cove, the memory foam Cypress mattress, and the Cedar Natural Luxe.
The Cedar Natural Luxe is a luxury hybrid mattress that puts the focus on organic materials. It’s built with sustainably sourced organic latex, organic cotton, and organic wool over a pocketed coil support core. The mattress measures 11 inches tall in total and has a medium firm feel that suits most sleeper types. An optional 3-inch pillow top, available for an extra fee, gives the mattress a plusher feel for those who prefer more pressure relief.
We’ll dive into the specs of the Brentwood Home Cedar Natural Luxe and take a look at how the materials and construction influence the feel and performance of the mattress. We’ll also cover practical information to help you decide if this might be the bed for you.
The Brentwood Home Cedar Natural Luxe Mattress is an 11-inch hybrid mattress. This is fairly short for a hybrid mattress, and the mattress has a thin comfort section. However, customers can choose to add an optional pillow top which raises the height of the comfort section by 3 inches.
The mattress itself has a medium firm feel equivalent to a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. Cotton and wool padding allows sleepers to sink in somewhat, but the latex underneath is relatively firm and mostly keeps sleepers lying on, and not in, the mattress.
The optional latex pillow top is designed for those who want a softer feel. The topper is 3 inches tall and includes 1 inch of wool and cotton batting over 2 inches of Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS)-certified latex, with a Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)-certified cotton cover. It attaches to the mattress with straps and buttons made of coconut husks.
The mattress has a GOTS-certified cotton cover with visible wool rosettes. To avoid the use of chemical adhesives, Brentwood Home has hand-tufted all the layers of the mattress together. The cover panels and borders are quilted with GOTS-certified cotton fibers. In addition to providing a place for the topper to attach, hand-stitched handles around the outside also make the mattress easier to move.
Beneath the quilted cover are two layers of GOTS-certified organic wool. Wool is an excellent moisture-wicker and this layer helps keep the surface of the bed cool. There is a further inch of alpaca wool underneath that functions as a natural fire barrier and adds a silky touch.
Brentwood Home has designed a 1.5-inch layer of computer-cut articulated Dunlop latex with three zones, giving differing feels for the shoulders, legs, and lower back. In addition to changing the firmness in different areas, the articulated design and pincore holes also allow for better airflow. The latex is GOLS-certified organic latex, with a medium feel that forms a loose pressure-relieving cradle around the sleeper.
The support core consists of 8 inches of individually wrapped coils. These are made of tempered steel, with a coil count of 1,130 in a queen mattress. The coils are divided into 5 zones, with firmer coils in the head and feet and softer coils in the hips that provide gentle support. The edges are also reinforced with coils.
The pocketed coil layer sits atop a 0.5-inch layer made of coconut husk fiber, which provides a sturdy and breathable base for the bed without the need for polyfoam.
Brentwood Home uses ethically sourced, organic materials and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes that incorporate wind power, rainwater collection pools, and tree biomass. The mattress and topper are GREENGUARD Gold certified, meaning they are low in chemical emissions. For every mattress sold, the company plants three trees through a donation to the National Forest Foundation.
The 11-inch Brentwood Home Cedar mattress has multiple layers, consisting of cotton, wool, latex, pocketed coils, and coconut husk fiber. The optional 3-inch topper has 3 layers and is made up of wool, cotton, and latex.

The Brentwood Home Cedar mattress is priced very competitively considering its durable materials and sustainable credentials. Customers who bundle the optional pillow top when they order their mattress pay an additional charge. This raises the price of the overall setup, but it’s still a reasonable price-point.
In addition to the pillow top, Brentwood Home also sells a basic foundation or an adjustable base which customers can choose to purchase along with the mattress if they wish. Brentwood Home offers occasional discounts that can knock around a hundred dollars off the regular price.
The mattress is only available in queen, king, and California king sizes.

Side Sleepers:
The Brentwood Home Cedar provides light contouring that helps reduce pressure points in most side sleepers, especially those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds. Layers of cotton and wool padding add cushioning, and the zoned latex helps reduce pressure build-up in the hips and shoulders. The pocketed coils are strong and supportive, even for heavier individuals.
Side sleepers under 130 pounds may feel more comfortable with the extra pillow top. These sleepers don’t sink very far into the mattress and will get better pressure relief from the pillow top’s softer feel.
Back Sleepers:
The medium firm surface of the Brentwood Home Cedar provides a balance of support and pressure relief that is particularly well-suited to back sleepers under 130 pounds. In these sleepers, the mattress boosts lumbar support to keep the spine on an even plane.
The mattress is also suitable for individuals who weigh more than 130 pounds, with zoned support in the latex and the pocketed coils that promotes healthy spinal alignment. However, those who carry extra weight around the midsection may find the mattress is not firm enough to prevent sagging in this area. This can contribute to lower back pain in some sleepers.
Stomach Sleepers:
Stomach sleepers need a firm surface to prevent the hips from sinking in, and the Brentwood Home Cedar has varying levels of suitability depending on body weight.
The mattress doesn’t allow much give for stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds, so this group should experience excellent spinal alignment. Stomach sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds may sink in a little further, but should still get a decent amount of support from the mattress. Unfortunately, the mattress is a bit too soft for stomach sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds. The mattress allows the hips to sink in too far for these sleepers, throwing the spine out of alignment and allowing pressure to build up.

Mattresses that are damaged with burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, or mold that is due to improper care are excluded from the trial. Mattresses that have been used on the floor instead of with an appropriate bed frame or foundation are also excluded from the sleep trial. The sleep trial is only valid for customers who purchased the mattress directly from Brentwood Home.
Brentwood Home offers a 25-year limited warranty against defective workmanship or materials for the original purchaser of a new Cedar mattress.
The warranty covers visible indentations of at least 2 inches and cosmetic damage that affects the mattress performance. It does not cover normal increases in softness, comfort preference, or mattresses that are stained, abused, burnt, torn, moldy, smelly, or unsanitary. Mattresses must always be used with an approved foundation, box spring, or base as defined by Brentwood Home.
The warranty is prorated, meaning that over time, customers will be responsible for a greater portion of the replacement cost. In all cases, customers are responsible for transportation and shipping costs.
During the first 10 years, Brentwood Home will replace a defective mattress for free. Starting in year 11, the purchaser will be responsible for paying 50 percent of the original purchase price. This portion increases by 5 percent every year until year 21. From this point onwards, the purchaser’s portion will be 95 percent of the original purchase price. Replacement mattresses will be the same size and model where possible.
