Sheets & Giggles is a Colorado-based bedding company that emphasizes natural and sustainable materials. The online retailer makes mattresses, sheets, duvets, throws, comforters, and waterproof mattress protectors. Many of these products incorporate lyocell, a eucalyptus-derived fiber that uses less water to produce than commercial cotton. Each mattress is compressed in recycled plastic and shipped in a recycled cardboard box. Sheets & Giggles is cruelty-free and plants two trees for every tree harvested.
The Eucalyptus Mattress is the company’s first mattress offering. We’ll review this eco-friendly hybrid, including its materials and performance ratings, to help you decide if it’s the best mattress for your needs. We also cover shipping, sleep trial details, and warranty information.

Side Sleepers

We found that the Eucalyptus Mattress’ responsive feel provides a nice blend of contouring and support for side sleepers. The two latex layers evenly conform to the body, helping the spine stay neutral. The softer upper layer prevents pressure points from forming around the hips and shoulders, while the firmer latex below distributes body weight evenly across the mattress.

Although side sleepers generally prefer a softer mattress, the medium firm (6) feel of the Eucalyptus Mattress is well-suited to side sleepers over 130 pounds. It allows just enough sinkage below the hips and shoulders to relieve tension without compromising support. Side sleepers under 130 pounds won’t sink as much, but they should still get plenty of pressure relief on the Eucalyptus Mattress.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers in all weight groups should benefit from this mattress’ moderate contouring. Responsive latex conforms to the shoulders and legs without causing the back to sink excessively. The sturdy pocketed coils and firm latex layer reinforce neutral spine alignment, reducing strain on the lower back. Back sleepers over 230 pounds will naturally sink more, but they should still feel adequately supported.

Stomach Sleepers

Like back sleepers, stomach sleepers need firm support to keep the spine level. The stomach sleepers on our testing team reported that the Eucalyptus Mattress does a good job of providing this support, as its responsive comfort system doesn’t overly conform to the body. Sturdy steel coils limit sagging beneath the midsection, and the softer top comfort layer prevents pressure buildup.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

6/10

We found that the Eucalyptus Mattress isolates motion well. The combination of a top layer of softer Talalay latex,  followed by a firmer layer underneath, provides contouring while also preventing motion from traveling across the mattress.

The pocketed coil core adds notable bounce, but the individually wrapped springs are designed to limit motion transfer. Those who share a bed shouldn’t be disturbed when their partner adjusts positions or gets in and out of bed. That said, couples who easily awaken may prefer an all-foam mattress that prevents even more motion transfer.

Pressure Relief

7/10

With its balanced medium firm (6) feel, the Sheets & Giggles Eucalyptus Mattress should provide good pressure relief to most sleepers regardless of their body type or preferred sleep position.

The softer Talalay latex comfort layer provides ample cushioning without allowing the body to sink excessively. The denser latex layer below encourages neutral spine alignment, helping to reduce pressure buildup. The sturdy coil core also promotes good sleep posture by limiting sagging beneath the torso and hips.

Temperature Control

8/10

Most hybrids excel at temperature control, and our tests showed that the Eucalyptus Mattress is no exception.

The mattress includes a breathable lyocell cover made from heat-wicking eucalyptus fibers, which help keep the surface cool and dry. The Talalay latex in the comfort layer has an airy, open-cell matrix designed to prevent heat retention.

Unlike solid foam cores, pocketed coils provide extra space for air to circulate. The added bounce also keeps sleepers from sinking too deeply into the mattress. Sleeping “on” a mattress rather than “in” it can lead to a cooler sleep.

Edge Support

7/10

With its sturdy coil core and medium firm (6) feel, the Eucalyptus Mattress offers above-average edge support.

Stronger coils reinforce the top, bottom, and sides of the mattress, so sleepers can take advantage of the entire surface without having to worry about sinking in too deeply. Our testers also reported that it was easy to get into and out of bed, making this mattress a good fit for those with decreased mobility.

Ease of Movement

8/10

Sleepers shouldn’t have trouble moving on the Eucalyptus Mattress, thanks to its responsive design.

The Talalay latex used in this mattress has a springy quality that doesn’t overly conform to the body. While the softer upper layer does contour slightly, the firmer latex layer below minimizes deep sinkage, allowing the sleeper to move freely. The individually wrapped coils in the support core also make changing positions easier.

Based on our tests, even sleepers weighing over 230 pounds should have little difficulty changing positions on  this mattress.

Off-Gassing

8/10

Off-gassing refers to the smell released by volatile organic compounds (VOCs) found in foam and other materials often used in mattresses. The Eucalyptus Mattress doesn’t contain any of these, however, so it shouldn’t let off a chemical smell when new.

You might notice a faint odor because the mattress is vacuum-sealed in plastic, but this will quickly dissipate.

Sheets & Giggles Eucalyptus Mattress Review Breakdown

The Sheets & Giggles Eucalyptus Mattress is a three-layer hybrid that measures 11.5 inches tall. Its versatile medium firm (6) feel accommodates side, back, stomach, and combination sleepers. The cooling lyocell cover is made from pesticide-free eucalyptus fibers.

Two different layers of natural Talalay latex form the comfort system. A softer upper layer provides extra cushioning to ease pressure points. The firmer layer below supports spinal alignment by distributing body weight evenly across the mattress. Talalay latex is comparatively lightweight, so it resists heat buildup better than denser types of latex or foam. It also has a springier feel that doesn’t overly conform to the body.

The pocketed coils in the support core are made from recycled steel. Firmer coils are used on the mattress’ perimeter to increase edge support. This provides more stability at the sides of the mattress, which can make it easier to get into and out of bed. Individually wrapped coils also limit motion transfer, so couples shouldn’t notice as much when their partner moves. Additionally, the coils help circulate air and keep the mattress cool.

The Eucalyptus Mattress doesn’t include any foams, so there won’t be any off-gassing odors when the bed is unpackaged. The latex is OEKO-TEX certified, indicating that it meets strict safety guidelines.

The mattress can be spot-treated as needed, but Sheets & Giggles advises using a mattress pad or protector for extra protection. The company also recommends rotating the mattress 90 degrees once or twice a year to promote even wear. This can help extend the mattress’ lifespan.
