Zinus, Inc. is a mattress and bedding accessory brand that sells their products both directly to customers as well as through a wide assortment of online and brick-and-mortar retailers. In this review, we’ll take a look at one of Zinus’s best-selling mattresses: the Pressure Relief Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress, also known as the Green Tea Mattress.
The Green Tea Mattress is an all-foam model available in four different thickness profiles: 6, 8, 10, and 12 inches. Each thickness has a unique composition and feel, but all Green Tea Mattress models feature a memory foam comfort layer reinforced with high-density polyfoam. The memory foam is infused with green tea extract, which has antioxidizing properties to help the mattress stay fresh, and the cover is made from a knit jacquard blend. The 6- and 8-inch models have a medium feel that corresponds to a 5 on the 1-10 firmness scale, and the 10- and 12-inch models have a medium soft (4) feel.
Zinus offers a wide selection of other mattresses, as well. These include three additional memory foam mattress models, along with a handful of hybrid mattresses. Many of these other Zinus models are also available with different thickness profiles and firmness levels. If the Green Tea Mattress won’t work for you, then Zinus likely has another model that will be more suitable.
If the Green Tea Mattress sounds like a good match, check out our review below to learn more about this memory foam model. We’ll discuss construction, materials, firmness levels, and prices for each available profile, as well as Zinus’s policies for shipping, returns, and warranty coverage.
The Green Tea Mattress is available in four different profiles. Each thickness offers a unique experience for sleepers.
The Zinus Green Tea Mattress is available in a profile of 6, 8, 10, or 12 inches. The shortest two models offer a medium (5) feel, and the taller two models offer a medium soft (4) feel. Each profile has a different design in terms of comfort layer and support core thickness.
The 6-inch model has a 1-inch comfort layer of memory foam infused with antioxidizing green tea extract, followed by a 5-inch support core of high-density polyfoam. This mattress is exceptionally short, even compared to other low-profile models, making it a good option for children and adults who weigh less than 130 pounds. Please note this model – unlike the others – does not contain a transitional layer.
The 8-inch model contains a 2-inch comfort layer of tea-infused memory foam and a 2-inch transitional layer of dense polyfoam. The second layer provides extra reinforcement to the mattress and prevents you from sinking too deeply. The support core consists of 4 inches of high-density polyfoam.
The 10-inch model is constructed with 2.5 inches of tea-infused memory foam. The added thickness in the comfort layer provides a plusher feel and closer conforming, making this mattress feel noticeably softer than the 6- and 8-inch models. The transitional layer of dense polyfoam measures 2 inches thick, and this is followed by a 5.5-inch support core of high-density polyfoam.
Lastly, the 12-inch model features a 3-inch comfort layer of tea-infused memory foam and a 2-inch polyfoam transitional layer. The support core contains two layers of high-density polyfoam, each measuring 3.5 inches thick.
All Green Tea Mattress models are encased in a cover made from a jacquard fabric blend. The cover is not removable and should be spot-cleaned with water and mild detergent if stains occur.
Each available profile for the Zinus Green Tea Mattress has a unique design. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of layers and specs for each thickness.
Jacquard fabric blend
Memory foam infused with green tea extract
Transitional polyfoam (8″, 10″, 12″ models)
High-density polyfoam (2nd layer, 12″ model)
The price of a queen size Zinus Green Tea Mattress varies by thickness. All of these price-points are comparable to those of other all-foam Zinus models, but they are very affordable for a memory foam mattress, which on average cost between $900 and $1,200 in a queen size.
This mattress is also available through a wide range of online and brick-and-mortar retailers. Prices may be higher or lower than those listed above, depending on the seller you choose.
Zinus does not offer any customizations or add-on options that affect the price-point of this mattress. The company provides free ground shipping for customers who reside in the lower 48 states. Some authorized Zinus retailers may provide free shipping outside the contiguous U.S.

6-inch model: 2/5, 8-inch model, 10-inch model, 12-inch model: 4/5
Zinus Green Tea Mattress models with profiles of 8 inches or thicker provide very good motion isolation. The memory foam comfort layer absorbs movement from sleepers and prevents most of it from transferring across the surface of the bed. This characteristic – common for softer memory foam beds – can reduce nighttime disruptions for people who awaken easily when their sleep partner changes positions or gets in and out of bed.
The 6-inch model does not isolate motion as well as the other Green Tea Mattress profiles. This is largely due to its comfort layer, which measures only 1 inch thick and cannot absorb as much movement as thicker memory foam layers. This creates more responsiveness on the surface, and it may cause you to feel it more when your co-sleeper moves around in bed.
6-inch model: 2/5, 8-inch model:3/5, 10-inch model, 12-inch model: 4/5
The pressure-relieving abilities of this mattress largely depend on which thickness/firmness you choose. The 10- and 12-inch models have the softest surface feels. Their comfort layers contour to your body very closely, causing you to sink into the mattress. Side sleepers up to 230 pounds should feel less pressure as the foam molds to their figure, cushions their hips and shoulders, and aligns the spine. This model should also reduce pressure without sagging too much for back and stomach sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds.
The 6-inch and 8-inch profiles provide less pressure relief by comparison. The 8-inch model conforms a bit closer than its 6-inch counterpart (thanks to a thicker memory foam layer), but neither bed offers the same deep contouring as the taller Green Tea Mattress models. That said, side sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds may experience less pressure on the 8-inch mattress.
6-inch model: 3/5, 8-inch model, 10-inch model, 12-inch model: 2/5
Of the four profiles for the Green Tea Mattress, the 6-inch model generally sleeps the coolest. This can be attributed to its feel, which is firmer than its thicker counterparts. You won’t sink as deeply into the mattress, resulting in better surface airflow, and the foam does not absorb and trap an excessive amount of body heat. However, you may still notice some warmth.
The 8-, 10-, and 12-inch Green Tea Mattress models sleep a bit warmer. Their comfort layers conform more closely to your body. This results in more heat absorption and less airflow on the surface. If you tend to sleep hot, we recommend a firmer memory foam bed or a model with components that regulate temperature better, such as steel coil systems or ventilated latex layers.
6-inch model: 3/5, 8-inch model, 10-inch model, 12-inch model: 2/5
Edge support is not a major strength of any of these mattresses, but the 6-inch model feels sturdier around the perimeter than the thicker models. You’ll still notice some sinkage when getting in and out of bed, and you may not feel secure sleeping near the edges if you weigh 130 pounds or more, but the high-density foam base offers decent reinforcement given the bed’s low profile.
You’ll likely sink a bit deeper on the 8-inch model, and much deeper on the 10- and 12-inch models. All-foam beds with softer surface feels tend to have particularly weak edge support. The high-density foam provides some stability, but this material cannot withstand compression as well as coils or latex. A plush feel can compound this issue; you’ll sink deeper when sitting or lying along the edges, and feel less reinforcement from the support foam.
Due to their softer feels and all-foam construction, all of the Green Tea Mattress models are prone to sinkage when bearing weight. This can make moving across any of these mattresses fairly difficult, especially if you weigh more than 230 pounds.
The 6-inch model sinks the least, but you should still expect some resistance and restricted movement when getting in and out of bed. This issue becomes exponentially worse with each successive thickness. The 8-inch model sinks slightly deeper than the 6-inch model, while the 10- and 12-inch models sink the most.
Many couples prefer responsive, springy mattresses with strong edge support for sex. These surfaces promote easier movement and allow couples to use the entire surface of the mattress.
For couples that share these preferences, the Green Tea Mattress may be problematic regardless of its thickness. The memory foam layers respond slowly, rather than feeling springy. As you and your partner sink into the foam, this can create a sensation akin to fighting with the mattress. Weaker edge support also means you and your partner may be confined to the center of the mattress.
The 6- and 8-inch models may also be uncomfortable due to their lower profiles. On shorter beds with thin support layers, some couples experience feelings of bottoming out. The 10- and 12-inch models are less prone to this issue, but they will sink deeper due to their softer feels.
6-inch model, 8-inch model: 2/5, 10-inch model, 12-inch model: 1/5
Off-gassing is a common issue for all-foam beds. When unboxed, these mattresses release particles known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that carry an unpleasant chemical odor. With some models, these smells dissipate rather quickly. However, the Green Tea Mattress is associated with above-average off-gassing odor.
The 10- and 12-inch models produce the strongest and most bothersome smells, according to owners. Off-gassing is particularly common with thicker mattresses because they contain more foam layers. After the initial smells wear off, you may still notice some lingering odor. The 6- and 8-inch models emit less off-gassing, but owners still claim these mattresses smell quite a bit at first.
To help air out these odors, we suggest unboxing the mattress and placing it in a well-ventilated room for two to three days before sleeping on it.
Side Sleepers: The 6-inch Green Tea Mattress has a very low profile and offers a medium feel with some moderate conforming. The comfort layer provides some padding for the shoulders and hips, but it may not be sufficient to ensure even spinal alignment and pressure relief for side sleepers. Those who weigh up to 230 pounds may feel comfortable on this mattress, but some will find it too firm.
We don’t recommend this model to side sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds. Its short height and medium feel will most likely lead to deep sagging, added pressure points, and the potential for neck, back, and hip pain.
Back Sleepers: Back sleepers typically need a firmer, more supportive mattress than side sleepers. This position promotes spinal alignment on its own, so the key for back sleepers is adequate body-conforming without sagging around the torso, waist, and other areas where people tend to carry excess weight. On the 6-inch Green Tea Mattress, back sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds should receive enough contouring and reinforcement to feel less pressure without sinking too deeply – but some may still find the mattress too short.
Adult back sleepers who weigh 130 pounds or more will probably find the mattress unsupportive, with the most sag occurring around the lower back and waist. Down the road, this can lead to aches and pains in the neck, shoulders, and hips.
Stomach Sleepers: The 6-inch Green Tea Mattress is not particularly suited for stomach sleepers of any body type. This position generally requires stronger support between the shoulders and hips because most people carry a disproportionate amount of weight in this area. When you sleep face-down, the weight from your midsection can pull you too deeply into the mattress. Neck and shoulder pain is a common side effect for stomach sleepers who sleep on beds that lack proper support.
For stomach sleepers, we recommend a thicker, firmer all-foam mattress – possibly a model with zoned support layers that reinforce the midsection while cradling the rest of the body. A bed with coils and/or latex layers would also help to ensure maximum stability.
|Under 130 lbs.||130-230 lbs.||Above 230 lbs.|
Since many individuals carry more weight around their midsections, stomach sleepers often require a mattress that is firm and supportive enough to prevent their midsections from sinking in too deeply. A mattress that is too soft could put additional strain on a stomach sleeper’s spine.
|Under 130 lbs.||130-230 lbs.||Above 230 lbs.|
Side Sleepers: Thanks to its transitional layer and slightly thicker profile, the 8-inch Green Tea Mattress is more suitable for most side sleepers than the 6-inch model. Side sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds should feel the most comfortable.
Side sleepers who weigh more than 130 pounds may also find the mattress comfortable, though they will likely notice more sinking and weaker overall support. This may interfere with their alignment and create added pressure around the spine.
Back Sleepers: For back sleepers, the 8-inch Green Tea Mattress provides marginal comfort and support across different weight groups. The transitional layer ensures better reinforcement than the 6-inch model, which can help keep back sleepers on an even plane without sinking too deeply and coming into contact with the denser support foam.
That said, this mattress may still be too short for some back sleepers – especially those who weigh 130 pounds or more.
Stomach Sleepers: As is the case with the 6-inch Green Tea Mattress, the 8-inch model will probably not be thick or supportive enough for stomach sleepers in any weight group. Low-profile models like the 8-inch Green Tea Mattress typically provide less support due to their thinner base layers.
|Under 130 lbs.||130-230 lbs.||Above 230 lbs.|
Side Sleepers: Of the four profiles for the Green Tea Mattress, the 12-inch model will be most comfortable for the majority of side sleepers weighing 230 pounds or less. However, side sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds may find this model too soft. Side sleepers in this weight range typically prefer a medium to medium firm feel that offers some cushioning while reinforcing the body, especially around the shoulders and hips.
Back Sleepers: The 12-inch Green Tea Mattress is best suited to back sleepers who weigh less than 230 pounds. This can be attributed to an even balance of close contouring and adequate support.
Back sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds will probably sink too much around the torso and waist to feel comfortable, and added pressure is likely to occur.
Stomach Sleepers: Like the 10-inch Green Tea Mattress, the 12-inch model is thick enough to support stomach sleepers without bottoming out too much. However, this mattress also has a medium soft feel and won’t provide enough reinforcement for some stomach sleepers. Those who weigh less than 130 pounds should feel reasonably comfortable and won’t experience too much sinkage.
Heavier sleepers will likely feel differently about the mattress. Stomach sleepers who weigh more than 130 pounds will notice more sinkage between the shoulders and hips – a common issue with stomach sleepers in this weight group when lying on softer mattresses. A firmer, more supportive mattress is recommended for these individuals.

Reviews for the Green Tea Mattress on Zinus’s official website are largely positive. The four- and five-star ratings tout the mattress for close body-conforming, pain and pressure relief, and excellent value given the price-point. Other favorable reviews focus on the strengths of different profiles. Reviewers say the 10- and 12-inch models offer the best overall comfort, while the 6- and 8-inch models are ideal for children.
Durability is a common issue for reviewers who have left one- and two-star ratings. Many claim that the mattress becomes saggy and uneven within a couple of years, if not sooner. Bothersome heat retention also appears to be a problem for some.
Reviews for the Green Tea Mattress and other Zinus models are located near the bottom of the beds’ product pages. You can toggle reviews to read highest to lowest or vice versa, as well as date, relevance, and “most helpful.” However, you can’t filter out reviews by specific star rating. Additionally, the reviews cannot be sorted by mattress profile.
The Amazon.com page for the Green Tea Mattress has far more reviews than the bed’s official product page on Zinus.com, but the overall rating between both pages is consistent. Positive reviews focus on traits like gentle body-conforming, less pain and pressure, and good motion isolation for the thicker models. One- and two-star reviews echo many of the same complaints found on Zinus.com, including poor durability and excessive heat.
