Leesa offers a wide array of mattresses, each catering to specific sleep preferences and budgets. The Chill lineup includes four models that are engineered to help you sleep cooler. Among the four models, the Studio Chill Hybrid stands apart with the most affordable price-point. In addition to below-average pricing, the bed delivers a strong balance of contouring and bounce that can be attributed to a hybrid design that combines foam and coils.

With its well-rounded construction and cooling features, the Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid should appeal to a wide range of sleepers with different sleep positions and body types. It is also a standout choice for those seeking a bed with quality construction at a reasonable price-point.

Side Sleepers

Side sleepers need a mattress that provides adequate pressure relief while ensuring enough support to bolster the lower back for proper spinal alignment. The Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid rises to the occasion, particularly for side sleepers who weigh more than 130 pounds. Our testers found the bed’s comfort layers gently cradled the body’s curves to minimize uncomfortable pressure points. This is especially crucial for side sleepers who often experience painful pressure buildup in the shoulders and hips.

The pocketed coils provide ample support without sacrificing too much contouring. Our testing team found the coils helped deliver support to the lower back while ensuring pressure points still receive enough cushioning. The balanced feel allows side sleepers to sink in just enough without feeling “trapped.”

Some side sleepers under 130 pounds may find the mattress comfortable, but this group will likely prefer a mattress with more cushioning and deeper contouring.

Back Sleepers

Everyone needs a mattress that promotes proper spinal alignment. For back sleepers, this means making sure a bed has adequate support for the lumbar region while also conforming to the body to prevent pressure buildup.

The Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid strikes the right balance of support and pressure relief for most back sleepers. The top foam layers conform to the body and ensure the spine is cushioned without excessive sinking. The support core’s zoned design is particularly beneficial for back sleepers, offering extra support for the lower back while maintaining cushioning elsewhere.

Our testers found the Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid worked best for back sleepers up to 230 pounds. While the mattress still provides a decent balance of support and contouring for back sleepers over 230 pounds, these sleepers would probably benefit from a firmer mattress with stronger support.

Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers need a mattress that prevents the midsection from sinking too deeply, as this can create a dip in the spine that may lead to lower back pain.

The Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid is a very good option for stomach sleepers under 130 pounds. The quilted foam and memory foam layers offer gentle contouring that doesn’t allow too much sinkage. Meanwhile the pocketed coils provide sufficient support, particularly to the lower back. Strong support is crucial for stomach sleepers, since it ensures that the body remains on an even plane.

Stomach sleepers over 130 pounds will experience more sinkage in the midsection, which can cause uncomfortable sleep posture.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

7/10

Foam hybrid mattresses balance the responsiveness of coils with the motion-absorbing properties of foam. The Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid has a foam comfort system that earned it average ratings in motion isolation during our tests.

The coils produce some bounce, so co-sleepers will likely notice a moderate amount of motion transfer when someone shifts during the night. That said, the foam layers reduce the motion transfer to a considerable extent. While you might feel some movement if a sleep partner moves or gets up, it won’t be as pronounced as in a traditional innerspring bed.

Pressure Relief

8/10

The Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid offers a moderate amount of pressure relief, particularly for side sleepers over 130 pounds and back sleepers up to 230 pounds. The foam comfort system molds to the body, helping to cushion common pressure points like the shoulders and hips. This contouring is beneficial for side sleepers, aiding in spinal alignment and reducing pressure buildup. Additionally, the coils are zoned to enhance pressure relief in areas of the body that need it.

Temperature Control

7.5/10

The Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid offers very good temperature regulation, making it a strong option for sleepers who tend to overheat during the night. A copper infusion in the memory foam is meant to dissipate heat, since copper is known for its thermal conductivity. The cover also contains cooling fibers engineered to draw heat from your body.

The coils allow air to circulate through the bed’s interior, producing a cooler sleep surface. Compared to other foam hybrids, the Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid stands out for strong cooling features that help maintain a comfortable temperature through the night.

Edge Support

8.5/10

The Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid has very good edge support, a key feature for those who like to use the entire surface of their mattress or sit on the bed’s edge. The pocketed coil support core is designed with reinforced edges, providing a sturdy feel and preventing significant sagging when pressure is applied. This robust construction ensures that sleepers can move comfortably across the surface without feeling like they’re going to roll off. Strong edge support can also increase mattress durability.

Ease of Movement

6.5/10

The Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid is very easy to move around on, making it well suited to those who frequently change sleep positions. While the top foam layers contour to the body, they don’t create that “stuck” feeling often associated with memory foam. The zoned pocketed coils play a significant role as well, delivering a responsive feel that prevents excessive sinkage into the mattress.

Off-Gassing

7/10

After unboxing the mattress, you might notice some initial off-gassing odors. This is typical of many mattresses that use foam or are shipped compressed in a box. Over time and with adequate ventilation, these smells usually dissipate.

While the off-gassing may not affect everyone, it might be bothersome to those who are sensitive to odors. Allowing the mattress to sit in a well-ventilated room before use can make a significant difference. Compared to other hybrids with similar designs, the Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid emits an average amount of off-gassing odors.

Leesa Studio Chill Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown

The Leesa Studio Chill is a hybrid mattress that combines the contouring of foam with the sturdy support of coils. The mattress has a medium firm feel, which rates a 6 on our 10-point firmness scale. This firmness level typically appeals to a wide range of sleepers, since it provides an even balance of cushioning and support.

The mattress begins with a cover made of polyester, polyethylene, and rayon. Underneath the cover is a layer of quilted foam for cushioning, followed by a thin layer of memory foam infused with copper intended to reduce heat retention. Next is a layer of high-performance comfort foam designed to enhance contouring while offering more responsiveness than the foam layers above.

The support core features an 8-inch layer of zoned pocketed coils. The coil system is zoned to increase cushioning for the upper and lower body while delivering extra support to the lower back. A reinforced perimeter helps improve sturdiness along the bed’s edge. A half-inch layer of high-density foam forms the bed’s base to boost stability and durability.

It typically takes three to five business days for each mattress order to ship. Delivery times vary depending on your location.

When your new Studio Chill Hybrid Mattress arrives, you’ll need to unbox it, place the compressed mattress on your base or foundation, then remove the plastic wrapping and allow the bed to decompress. Only your first Leesa mattress purchase is eligible for a sleep trial and free return. Leesa donates all returned mattresses to a non-profit or charitable organization.

Warranty

Leesa offers a 10-year limited warranty on its mattresses. If you purchase a Leesa mattress and find a defect within 10 years, the company will repair or replace the bed for free, minus shipping costs. This warranty only applies if you bought the mattress directly from Leesa and are the original owner.

It’s crucial to use a proper foundation with your mattress, since issues resulting from improper support are not covered by the warranty. The warranty covers indentations over 1 inch, flaws in the foam’s craftsmanship, and certain defects in the cover like broken zippers. It does not include normal softening of the memory foam, changes in personal comfort preferences, damage from misuse or use of an improper bed frame, or mattresses sold by unauthorized resellers.

If you choose to upgrade your mattress during a warranty replacement, you will be responsible for any price difference. Additionally, the Leesa warranty becomes void if the mattress leaves the U.S. or Canada.
