Side sleepers across all weight categories should find both models offer a balance of contouring and support. Although our side-sleeping testers between 130 and 230 pounds benefited the most from the FlexGrid, sleepers outside this weight category also found the bed provided adequate support.
The memory foam comfort layer prevents pressure points from forming in the shoulders and hips and keeps the spine level. The memory foam moderately contours to the body, making it a good option for sleepers who enjoy the cushioning feel of memory foam but tend to overheat easily.
The HexGel layer consists of individual tiles that move independently for customized support. It’s designed to keep sleepers on top of the mattress rather than allowing them to sink too deeply into the surface. This, along with the polyfoam layer, offers side sleepers over 230 pounds more support than other all-foam mattresses. Additionally, pocketed coils in the hybrid mattress provide sleepers with targeted support.
Back Sleepers
The Sealy FlexGrid Mattress works best for back sleepers under 230 pounds. Testers in this weight category found the mattress promoted proper spinal alignment while preventing excessive sinkage in the hips. Both models conform to cushion the lower back.
In addition to the memory foam layer, the HexGel is designed to cradle the whole body. It stretches around the hips and shoulders for an extra layer of support and pressure relief.
Pocketed coils typically offer back sleepers a slightly more supportive, responsive feel, while all-foam beds have a bit more give. However, our testers didn’t find a noticeable difference between the two FlexGrid models.
Those over 230 pounds felt that the foam and hybrid models performed adequately but lacked the support they needed for optimal comfort. The mattress allows the midsection to sink too far for these sleeper types to maintain spinal alignment.
Stomach Sleepers
Our stomach-sleeping testers under 230 pounds benefited the most from the Sealy FlexGrid Mattress. Since these sleeper types require a more supportive sleep surface, the medium firm (6) feel helps support the midsection for proper spine and neck alignment. Softer foam beds often permit too much sinkage in the hips, allowing the spine to bend into a U shape.
The memory foam in the FlexGrid cushions the hips to prevent pressure points from forming. The HexGel is engineered to naturally bend beneath the sleeper’s weight while preventing excessive sinkage. The Sealy FlexGrid Mattress comes in all-foam and hybrid construction, both of which are wrapped in a cover made of SealyChill fibers, a proprietary treatment applied to the spun fibers designed to keep the mattress cool-to-the-touch. The cover also receives an antimicrobial treatment intended to resist dust mites and allergens.
At 10 inches tall, the foam model features a layer of memory foam atop a HexGel layer engineered for maximum airflow and pressure relief. Our testers found the comfort layer offered moderate contouring and pressure relief while still keeping the spine aligned. A layer of firm polyfoam below helps to evenly distribute weight and provides additional support, offering a more supportive feel than other all-foam mattresses.

The Sealy FlexGrid Mattress comes with free standard shipping to the contiguous U.S. Sealy ships to Alaska and Hawaii for an additional fee. Each mattress is made to order before being compressed, sealed in plastic, and placed in a box.
Sealy offers White Glove delivery with each mattress purchase. Customers can expect their mattress to arrive two to three weeks after placing the order. Expedited shipping is available for additional cost. An individual 18 or over must be present to receive and sign for the delivery.
No assembly is required. The delivery service includes setup in the specified room.
Additional Services
Customers ordering a Sealy FlexGrid receive free White Glove delivery and old mattress removal upon request. Mattress removal is on a one-to-one basis, meaning if one mattress is purchased, only one old one will be removed.
Sleep Trial
The Sealy FlexGrid Mattress comes with a 90-night sleep trial. If the bed is unsatisfactory at any point, buyers can contact customer service to return for a full refund. However, since new mattresses have a break-in period, Sealy recommends customers try their new mattress for at least 30 days.
There is a $175 return fee for In-Home Delivery items. Refunds minus the return fee are issued within one to two business days.
Warranty
Each Sealy FlexGrid Mattress comes with a 10-year limited warranty applicable only to the original purchaser. It covers manufacturing and material defects that occur during normal use with a proper bed frame or foundation.
If the mattress is defective, Sealy will repair or replace it with an identical or comparable model. Customers are responsible for any shipping costs.
The warranty only applies to new mattresses and doesn’t cover damage from abuse, improper foundation, odors, mold, or normal indentation of less than 1.5 inches for quilted spring mattresses and .75 inches for non-quilted foam and hybrid mattresses.
