Its thick, seven-layer comfort system absorbs virtually all vibrations, preventing them from traveling across the mattress surface. The bed’s pocketed coil core also helps it prevent motion transfer.

For sleepers who awaken easily when their partner changes positions, this strong motion isolation could be a selling point. Most individuals are unlikely to notice movement on the Puffy Diamond if their partner tosses and turns or gets up during the night.

Thanks to its thick comfort system and medium soft (4) feel, our testers found that the Puffy Diamond Mattress offers notable pressure relief. The alpaca wool and fiber layers cushion the surface, while the polyfoam, latex, and memory foam layers mold to the sleeper’s body to limit pressure buildup. Additionally, a layer of zoned polyfoam provides variable support for more targeted contouring.

Side sleepers under 230 pounds are particularly likely to benefit from the Puffy Diamond’s pressure relief. By redistributing their weight, the mattress reduces pressure buildup around their hips and shoulders, which is a frequent cause of discomfort for side sleepers.

Compared to other hybrid models, the Puffy Diamond Mattress regulates temperatures moderately well. Because of their breathable cores, hybrid models often remain at a neutral temperature throughout the night. Sleepers who share their bed with a partner could feel that this restricts the usable surface area since they’re likely to feel more secure closer to the center of the bed. Getting into or out of bed may also be more challenging if you feel unstable sitting along the perimeter.

Since the Puffy Diamond is a medium soft (4) model with a thick, conforming comfort system, our testers noted that it isn’t as easy to move on as most firmer hybrid models. Most sleepers sink in relatively deeply, impeding movement. The comfort system also retains a body impression for a moment when the sleeper moves, which may further inhibit position changes. While the coil core adds a bit of bounce, the plush comfort system limits the mattress’ overall responsiveness.

Sleepers who change positions frequently or experience mobility issues may feel like their motion is limited when sleeping on the Puffy Diamond.

Because the Puffy Diamond is plush and conforming, most people are unlikely to find it ideal for sex. While preferences are subjective, couples usually favor bouncy, responsive surfaces. The Puffy Diamond’s close hug and deep contouring could restrict movement, and the limited edge support may force couples toward the center of the bed.

Like any model that contains synthetic materials, the Puffy Diamond may emit off-gassing odors after you unpack it. Off-gassing occurs when a mattress releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are a standard byproduct of manufacturing foam.
