Founded in 2016, Nectar is one of the leading bed-in-a-box mattress companies. The company has two all-foam models in its mattress line.
The Nectar Mattress, also known as the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress, is the company’s flagship model. The Nectar is constructed of four layers of foam that combine to provide cooling, pressure relief, support, and motion isolation. This model uses high-quality materials but comes at a lower price point than similarly-constructed models, making it a budget-friendly option. The Nectar Lush is Nectar’s newest model. It is constructed of three layers of foam. It is slightly softer than the Nectar Mattress, meaning it conforms closer to the body.
This review will give a detailed overview of the Nectar Mattress. We’ll describe its construction, pricing, performance, and more to help you decide if the Nectar Mattress is the ideal choice for you.
The Nectar Mattress has a medium firm feel, rating around 6 on the 10-point firmness scale. This firmness is on the higher end of the average range most sleepers tend to prefer. The mattress measures 11 inches thick, making its profile close to average.
The Nectar Mattress is constructed of four layers of foam, including three layers of memory foam. Its two-part comfort system includes two distinct layers of memory foam.
The top two layers consist of 1-inch of quilted memory foam and 3 inches of medium-density gel memory foam. These layers contour to the body to relieve pressure, giving the mattress a traditional memory foam feel.
The memory foam used in these layers are semi-open and infused with gel to keep the mattress from trapping as much body heat. This infusion can promote a cooler night’s sleep than many competing memory foam mattresses.
A 1.75-inch layer of Adaptive Hi-Core memory foam acts as the transition layer. This heavier material supports the sleeper while giving the bed some bounce.
The support core consists of 5.25 inches of 2.2 PCF polyfoam. This polyfoam is high-density, lending well to the mattress’ durability. The Nectar’s support layer serves as a stable base to reinforce the top of the mattress.
The mattress cover uses Tencel, which is breathable to allow more air circulation into the mattress. The cover is removable, but Nectar recommends leaving it on to protect the mattress. The cover can be spot-cleaned with mild detergent.
The Nectar Mattress is constructed of four layers, including a two-layer comfort system, a transition layer, and a support layer. All of these layers are constructed of foam, though the exact composition varies between layers to provide a balance between conforming and support.

Despite its high-quality construction, the Nectar Mattress is less expensive than most similarly-constructed all-foam models. This makes it a strong option for shoppers looking for a balance of quality and affordability. The table below details the sizing and prices. The Nectar’s four layers of foam absorb a significant amount of motion, preventing it from spreading across the surface of the mattress. People who sleep with partners may find that this exceptional motion isolation reduces nighttime disturbances caused by their partner moving during the night. Good Motion isolation is common in all-foam mattresses.
The Nectar uses three layers of memory foam that combine to nearly 5 inches thick. This is exceptionally thick for memory foam. Memory foam is known for its strong contouring. The material responds to a sleeper’s weight and body heat to allow them to sink in. This relieves pressure points by distributing the weight of the sleeper’s body.
This close contouring relieves pressure points. This may create the sensation of sleeping “in” rather than “on” the bed. Sleepers with aches and pains who appreciate the feeling of being “hugged” from a mattress will likely find the Nectar comfortable.
Because memory foam conforms so closely to the sleeper, it has a tendency to trap body heat throughout the night. While the Nectar Mattress has some features intended to combat the heat retention often associated with memory foam, all-foam mattresses inherently sleep hot.
The Tencel cover allows airflow into the mattress. The top layer of quilted gel memory foam is semi-open to allow additional air circulation, while the gel in the foam helps pull heat away from the sleeper’s body. The second layer in the comfort system also uses gel memory foam, which further wicks away heat.
The Nectar’s cooling features allow it to sleep cooler than many all-foam mattresses on the market. It may satisfy sleepers who want an all-foam model but tend to sleep hot. However, it may still retain more heat than some sleepers find ideal.
All-foam models rarely have reinforced edges. When an individual sits or sleeps near the perimeter of an all-foam mattress, the foam compresses. This can create a feeling of instability that limits the usable surface of the mattress. This may be problematic for couples who want more room and/or people with mobility issues that make it difficult to get into or out of bed.
The Nectar’s edge feels somewhat sturdier than most all-foam models due to its denser foams. Since the perimeter tends to sink less, it may feel more secure, especially to individuals who weigh less than 230 pounds.
Ease of movement refers to how easy it is to change position or move across the surface of the mattress. Since memory foam is often slower to respond than other materials, some individuals find it challenging to move across the surface of a memory foam mattress.
While the Nectar contains three layers of memory foam, it is easier to move on than many similarly constructed mattresses. The mattress’ top layer of memory foam is engineered to recover its shape quickly. The transition layer of Adaptive Hi-Core memory foam gives the Nectar more bounce than many all-foam models, which may also make it easier to move on the bed.
The Nectar is easier to move on than many all-foam models, but the hug of the memory foam may still make it challenging for some sleepers to change position.
Many couples prefer mattresses with more bounce. Since memory foam mattresses don’t have the springiness of innerspring or hybrid models, some couples do not find them responsive enough for sexual activity.
Like most other memory foam mattresses, the Nectar is not very springy. However, its transition layer provides some bounce, which may give it an edge over some all-foam models.
The Nectar and many other all-foam models also have some distinct benefits for sexual activity. The close conforming can create better traction, which some couples enjoy. Additionally, most foam models are virtually silent, making them highly discreet.
Mattresses that contain synthetic foams tend to emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These compounds often produce an odor than many owners experience as a “new mattress smell.” VOCs and associated odors usually air out within two to three days. People can leave the mattress in a well-ventilated space to allow smells to dissipate.
While the Nectar may emit some off-gassing odors, they tend to be less notable and often dissipate more quickly than the odors associated with many all-foam models.
The Nectar Mattress can accommodate side sleepers from most weight groups. The mattress’ three layers of memory foam contour to a sleeper’s body, allowing a side sleeper’s hips and shoulders to sink in enough to help relieve pressure points.
The Nectar Mattress’ medium firm feel may make it most appropriate for side sleepers who weigh over 130 pounds. These sleepers weigh enough to sink in and experience more significant cradling. This can relieve pressure points and promote better spinal alignment.
Side sleepers who weigh under 130 may find the Nectar slightly too firm, as many lightweight side sleepers prefer a soft or medium-soft feel. Since these individuals do not sink in as far in a medium firm mattress like the Nectar, they may experience some pressure buildup around their hips and shoulders.
Back sleepers generally prefer a mattress that provides even support to keep their spines well aligned. A mattress that sags may lead to more aches and pains.
The medium firm feel of the Nectar Mattress allows it to resist sagging more than many softer models. This creates a relatively even plane that’s conducive to back sleeping.
The Nectar’s three layers of memory foam cushion and conform, which may help disperse pressure buildup around a back sleeper’s hips. The Adaptive Hi-Core memory foam transition layer provides extra support, which should be sufficient to prevent most back sleepers from sinking in too deeply.
While the firmness level of the Nectar is greater than individuals under 130 pounds tend to prefer, lightweight back sleepers may appreciate the extra support of this medium firm model. This firmness can also accommodate most back sleepers over 230 pounds, though those who favor a firmer feel or who weigh more may prefer a firmer model.
Since many individuals carry more weight around their midsections, stomach sleepers often require a mattress that is firm and supportive enough to prevent their midsections from sinking in too deeply. A mattress that is too soft could put additional strain on a stomach sleeper’s spine.
The Nectar Mattress’ medium firm feel should be sufficient to support most stomach sleepers’ midsections. The memory foam comfort layers cushion enough for added comfort without skimping on support. Because of this, the Nectar Mattress may be comfortable for stomach sleepers from any weight group. Since it is right around the middle of the firmness range stomach sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds tend to prefer, average-weight stomach sleepers may find the Nectar Mattress particularly comfortable.
