Motion Isolation7.0/10
Our team found that the Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress keeps most vibrations contained so that they don’t bother a bed partner.
Because latex and coils are both bouncy, you’d expect there to be more motion transfer on a mattress with this design. But the added padding from cotton, wool, and silk above the latex helps moderate the bounciness.
Among the three models, the ultra plush actually has the most motion transfer because, unlike the medium and plush versions, it features springy Talalay latex in its top layer.
Brad Nehring, Product Testing Manager: For a mattress with multiple latex layers, the Organic Luxury isolates motion pretty well. There’s a lot of padding in the comfort system, and these materials absorb a lot of movement. I’d be surprised if sleep disturbances were an issue for any couples who use this mattress.
Pressure Relief7.0/10
Each model of the Organic Luxury Mattress provides above-average pressure relief. The mix of materials allows the mattress to gently cushion pressure points, but there’s no deep contouring like you’d find from memory foam.
However, some sleepers will find the mattress to be too soft to offer adequate support. Based on our testing, it’s usually people under 230 pounds and those who love the feel of a softer mattress who get the best pressure relief and overall comfort from this mattress.
Colin Simpson, Product Research Manager: All three models offer similar pressure relief, it really just depends on how much plushness you need for your pressure points. On my side, I liked how the latex cushioned my hips and shoulders.
Temperature Control8.0/10
While the mattress offers solid temperature regulation, it’s actually a bit underwhelming for a latex hybrid. The softness and sink reduce airflow around the skin, which led our testers to experience heat buildup on the surface of the mattress over the course of the night.
Among the models of the Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress, temperature control is best on the ultra plush. This may come as a surprise given its softer feel, but this is the only model that has latex at the very top, and latex is extremely effective at minimizing heat retention.
Mary Fenton, Head of Product Content: Given the materials, I expected there to be zero heat retention, and that wasn’t exactly the case. The surface of the mattress can collect heat, but it shouldn’t be a problem unless you consistently sleep hot.
Edge Support7.5/10
The robust layer of innerspring coils and springy latex give the Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress more dependable edge support than you’d find in other mattresses with a similar firmness level.
As you would expect, the softer models have more compression near the edge of the mattress. However, our testers didn’t feel unstable and were able to sit or sleep near the perimeter without any real risk of accidentally falling off the bed.
Colin Simpson, Product Research Manager: For as soft as the mattress is, there’s a surprising amount of edge support. The responsiveness of the latex and thick coils generate a base amount of edge support that keeps you from rolling off the mattress.
Ease of Movement7.5/10
The Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress earns roughly average marks for ease of movement. Although there’s bounciness from the coils and latex, the effect is muted by the fabric layers at the top of the mattress.
The exception is the ultra plush model since it has 3 inches of Talalay latex in its box-top design. We found that it was much easier to roll over or change sleeping positions on the ultra plush model compared to the other two versions of this mattress.
Brad Nehring, Product Testing Manager: Ease of movement is one area where the Organic Luxury underperforms compared to other latex hybrids. Except on the box-top model, there’s so much cushioning material between your body and the first latex layer. You’ll notice a slight bounce but will probably still have a hard time moving on this mattress.

Thanks to very durable materials, the Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress should hold up significantly longer than the average bed. Wool and hemp resist wear and tear, and Dunlop latex is known for its durability. As with most hybrid mattresses, the coils should also hold up well, meaning you can likely expect around 10 years of use from this mattress.

Side Sleepers
The Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress got mixed reviews from the side sleepers on our testing team. Side sleepers under 130 pounds got quality comfort and support on all three models. Side sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds preferred the medium (5) model, and those over 230 pounds felt all three models were softer than ideal.
Side sleepers need enough cushioning for their hips and shoulders along with sufficient pushback to keep them from sinking into the bed. A number of side sleepers in our testing felt that there was simply too much softness in the Organic Luxury Mattress. But others loved its combination of plushness and bounce.
Back Sleepers
The Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress is well-suited to many back sleepers under 130 pounds, but most other back sleepers find that the mattress lacks firmness.
In this sleeping position, a mattress needs to have enough pushback to prevent a sleeper’s abdomen from sinking down and pulling the spine out of alignment. In our testing, most back sleepers found that the Organic Luxury Mattress fell short of providing that level of pushback.
The main exception was among back sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. These sleepers found that the medium (5) model offered a nice balance of lumbar support, bounce, and mid-range firmness.
Stomach Sleepers
This mattress is far from an ideal fit for stomach sleepers. The only stomach sleepers in our testing who rated it well were those under 130 pounds, and they only liked the medium (5) model.
People who sleep face-down typically want a firmer mattress that doesn’t feel suffocating or permit excessive sinkage around the midsection. For that reason, the plush luxury of the Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress isn’t well-suited to the majority of stomach sleepers.

Shipping
The Organic Luxury Mattress requires White Glove delivery, which costs $249. Because of the size and weight of the mattress, it must be shipped flat and cannot be compressed and delivered in a box.
This delivery service is available in most parts of the United States but may not be offered in Alaska, Hawaii, and certain other locations.
Additional Services
This mattress can only be delivered with White Glove delivery, which carries an additional cost. You can add old mattress removal to the delivery service for an extra charge.
Sleep Trial
