The Organic Luxury Mattress provides above-average motion isolation.
Both latex and coils have a tendency to transfer movement. However, the Avocado contains a thicker-than-usual comfort section with multiple layers of wool, silk, cotton, and alpaca fiber. These softer materials help absorb movement to prevent it from rippling across the sleep surface. The pocketed coils also respond individually to pressure, minimizing motion transfer to the surrounding coils.
The plush model contains an extra layer of microcoils, but as these are also individually wrapped, they do little to affect the overall performance of the mattress.

Pros & Cons:
Avocado launched in 2016 with the goal of creating environmentally friendly bedding, bed frames, and other sleep products. The company currently sells several hybrid and latex mattresses, all of which are handmade in Los Angeles. We’ll be examining the Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress, a latex hybrid mattress with seventeen layers.
The Organic Luxury Mattress features natural materials such as cotton, wool, alpaca fiber, mohair, and silk interspersed with layers of organic latex. The mattress has a pillow-top design and is supported by a pocketed coil core, arranged into five zones that are designed to provide extra reinforcement where it’s most needed.
This model is available in a standard and plush version. The standard has a medium firmness that rates a 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. Shoppers who prefer a medium soft (4) mattress can choose the plush version, which has additional layers.
To help you determine if the Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress is right for you, we’ll examine its materials, construction, and performance. We’ll also outline important details of the trial, shipping, and warranty policies to help you make your decision.

Sleeping Style and Body Weight
For side sleepers, mattresses that are too hard can exacerbate pressure points at the hips and shoulders, while models that are too soft can cause sinking that leads to improper spinal alignment.
The Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress offers a good balance between pressure relief and support, with zoned coils that form a deep cradle for the shoulders and hips. The medium firmness of the standard version is ideal for side sleepers between 130 pounds and 230 pounds, and is also suitable for those who weigh over 230 pounds. The plush model provides extra cushioning for side sleepers under 130 pounds.
Back sleepers benefit from sleep surfaces that provide sturdy spinal support. A mattress with some contouring can also help to prevent pressure from building up in the lower back.
The Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress performs well for back sleepers who weigh up to 230 pounds. The soft comfort layers cushion the body without conforming too closely, and the targeted support system helps keep the spine in a neutral position.
Back sleepers who weigh over 130 pounds may prefer the standard version, as the added comfort layers of the plush model may allow too much sink. Along the same lines, back sleepers over 230 pounds may not receive the support they need from either version.
Stomach sleepers tend to place considerable weight on their neck and lower back, and surfaces that are too soft may allow the midsection to sink too deeply. This sinking can place additional strain on the back and lead to pain or discomfort over time.
Stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds exert less pressure on the bed, and may find that the standard Organic Luxury Mattress provides adequate support. However, both the standard and the plush version may be too soft for stomach sleepers who weigh over 130 pounds.

Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress Review Breakdown
The Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress is composed of seventeen layers in total, including layers of pressure-relieving natural fibers and organic latex atop a zoned coil support core. The mattress has a medium (5) firmness rating. Shoppers can also choose a softer version, which has a medium soft (4) firmness rating.
The cover of the mattress is made using breathable organic cotton. Beneath the cover is a top panel that features layers of organic wool, 2 inches of alpaca fiber, second layers of wool and alpaca fiber, and cotton canvas. These materials are soft and provide excellent temperature control, and they are ethically sourced. The wool is certified by the Responsible Wool Standard.
The top panel rests on a gusset that begins with a 2-inch layer of organic Dunlop latex with three cut-out zones designed to provide targeted support and improve airflow. Beneath is a layer made of organic wool, silk, and mohair.
Beneath the gusset are several layers of cotton and wool, followed by a solid 2-inch layer of Dunlop latex that rests on an organic hemp pad. The support core consists of an 8-inch layer of wrapped coils. These are split into five distinct zones, designed to provide extra support for heavier areas of the body. Beneath is an additional hemp pad to round out the mattress.
The plush model differs from the standard version by integrating additional layers in the pillow-top. This version has a 3-inch layer of microcoils and a blend of wool, cotton, and silk. These added materials give the mattress a softer feel and a thicker profile.
Instead of using chemical adhesives, the mattress is needle-tufted together. It also features reinforced handles. The textiles and the latex are certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS), and meet GREENGUARD Gold and OEKO-TEX standards for low emissions. The mattress is constructed without the use of flame retardants or harsh chemical treatments.

Mattress Prices and Sizing
The Organic Luxury Mattress is one of Avocado’s more expensive models, which is largely due to its additional layers.
Latex hybrid mattresses tend to have a higher price-point. This mattress further incorporates layers of costly products such as silk, mohair, and alpaca fiber, and the organic and socially responsible certifications also raise the price. However, the mattress has a breathable and highly durable design that should outlast many of its competitors.
With a 13.25-inch profile, the Organic Luxury Mattress has an average height for a mattress. Shoppers can also choose a plush model, which brings the height to 17 inches. Shoppers will need to purchase deep-pocket fitted sheets for the plush version.
As the mattress is quite heavy and not compressed for shipping, White Glove delivery is included in the purchase price. This service usually costs between $100 and $150, which is something to take into consideration when comparing against other models.
