OVERVIEW
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid is a latex hybrid mattress that allows sleepers to adjust the firmness by switching the position of its comfort layers. It is made by EcoSleep, a branch of Brooklyn Bedding dedicated to making mattresses with sustainable materials. While the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid is similar to their first model, the EcoSleep Hybrid, the Luxe Hybrid features a thicker support core. Its adjustable comfort layers are also stacked on top of each other, providing a thicker comfort system than the EcoSleep Hybrid’s flippable design.
Customers interested in sustainable materials are likely to be impressed by the Luxe Hybrid’s design. In addition to a quarter-inch layer of high-density polyfoam, the mattress is entirely made from natural materials like steel and Rainforest Alliance-certified natural latex, with a cover made from Joma wool and 100% organic cotton.
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid can be adjusted between medium soft and firm, which enables it to offer good support and comfort for a wide range of sleepers regardless of their weight or preferred sleep position. However, it is still more suitable for some people than others. To help you decide whether it’s right for you, we’ll walk you through what we’ve learned about this mattress through rigorous testing and in-depth research.

Considerations:
Customers looking for advanced motion isolation may prefer a mattress made from memory foam rather than latex
Stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds or more than 230 pounds may find this mattress lacks the right balance between support and pressure relief
While latex offers good pressure relief, this mattress lacks the cloud-like quality of those that conform closely to the body

EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid Video Review
Watch the video below to see how the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid Mattress performed when put to the test in the Sleep Foundation Lab.
Mattress Performance
Motion Isolation
Firm: 3/5, Soft: 4/5
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid is sufficiently motion-isolating for most people, but very light sleepers may notice when their partner moves or gets out of bed. While latex and pocketed coils provide reasonably good motion isolation compared to innerspring mattresses, they lack the dramatic isolation offered by synthetic foams.
The softer layer has better motion isolation than the firmer layer, thanks to a greater point elasticity, which allows it to compress directly beneath weight without pulling at the rest of the sleep surface. However, the firm layer benefits from better edge support, which makes getting out of bed less noticeable.
Pressure Relief
Firm: 3/5, Soft: 4/5
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid has a balanced feel, providing enough pressure relief for most people so long as they match their weight and preferred sleep position to the correct firmness option.
Latex is a popular choice for people who want pressure relief without feeling as though they’re sinking into their mattress. Pocketed coils also perform well in this category, thanks to their ability to adapt individually to body curves.
While the softer layer relieves more pressure overall, people who weigh over 130 pounds may also find the firm layer comfortably pressure-relieving. Neither side features the cloud-like pressure relief of memory foam, but both should help prevent pressure points and reduce next-day aches and pains.
Temperature Control
Latex naturally sleeps much cooler than synthetic foam, but solid latex foam can cause heat to build up due to poor airflow.
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid avoids this issue by using perforated latex with small holes for airflow, which complements the excellent airflow through the pocketed coils. The mattress also has a breathable, moisture-wicking cover made from Joma wool and organic cotton.
Both firmness layers perform well in this category. While the softer layer contours closer to the body than the firm layer, neither contours closely enough to affect airflow or heat retention.
Edge Support
Soft: 3/5, Firm: 4/5
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid’s pocketed coil support core provides edge stability, and the latex comfort layers are less likely to collapse near the edges than synthetic foams.
The firm layer contours less under pressure, providing better edge support than the softer layer, but both offer good performance in this category.
Edge support tends to be more important for couples than single sleepers, since beds with good edge support offer better motion isolation and allow sleepers to use the full sleep surface. This can also be an important category for people who need edge stability due to mobility considerations
Ease of Movement
Soft: 3/5, Firm: 4/5
The less a mattress contours against your body, the easier it is to move on it. Given that the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid conforms lightly around the sleeper’s body, it performs very well in this category.
Latex is also relatively bouncy, particularly when compared to memory foam, which adds to the overall ease of movement.
Most people should find it comfortable to move on this bed, including rolling over and changing positions. This is true of both firmness options, though the firm layer is easier to move on than the softer layer and may be better for people with mobility concerns.
Sex
Soft: 3/5, Firm: 4/5
A mattress’ suitability for sex is based on a wide range of factors, including edge support, temperature control, and ease of movement.
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid also performs well here. The latex is bouncy enough to appeal to most couples, and the pocketed coils offer overall support. Partners are unlikely to sink deeply into the comfort layers, making it easier to change positions.
While both firmness layers are suitable for sex, the firm layer conforms less and will likely perform better. It is also slightly bouncier and has better edge support, though both firmness layers will keep couples cool.
Off-Gassing
Although the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid does have an initial “new mattress smell,” this dissipates quickly once the mattress is unboxed and is entirely gone within a matter of hours. However, people who are very sensitive to smells may prefer to let their mattress air out for a day before sleeping on it.
Since the Luxe Hybrid uses entirely natural materials, it releases far fewer volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) than beds made with synthetic foams. The smell of latex foam is also different from synthetic foam, with a more pleasant bread-like scent rather than the smell of chemicals.

A bed’s firmness affects its suitability for different body weights and sleep positions, so the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid’s adjustable firmness layers make it appealing for a wide range of sleepers. Everyone, regardless of their weight or sleep style, is likely to find this mattress comfortable and supportive, so long as they choose the right firmness layer. However, the Luxe Hybrid is still better for some people than others.
Side Sleepers: People who sleep on their side require a careful balance of support and pressure relief due to the position’s stress on potential pressure points. The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid provides the right combination for all side sleepers regardless of their weight, but it receives top scores for side sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds or more than 230 pounds.
People below 130 pounds should use the softer layer, while those above 230 pounds will be more comfortable sleeping on the firm layer. Sleepers between this range may still enjoy sleeping on the Luxe Hybrid, but they are also more likely to find that the softer side doesn’t have enough support and that the firm side doesn’t relieve enough pressure.
Both sides have their benefits and downsides for sleepers in this range, so purchasers should feel free to choose whichever is most comfortable.
Back Sleepers: People who sleep on their back require excellent support and enough pressure relief to allow for a neutral position through the spine. The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid checks off both these boxes, providing superior performance for all back sleepers regardless of their weight. The latex offers the necessary pressure relief without loss of support, while the pocketed coils conform to the back’s natural curve better than innerspring coils.
Those who weigh less than 130 pounds are likely to find that the softer layer provides the right balance, while those who weigh above 130 pounds may prefer the firm layer’s improved support and gentle pressure relief. However, back sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds may also enjoy the firm layer, while those between 130 and 230 pounds can also use the softer layer.
Though the scores for these combinations of weight and firmness may be lower, they make for a good compromise for couples with different needs.
Stomach Sleepers: Although the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid is still a comfortable choice for stomach sleepers regardless of their weight, it is less suitable for this position than it is for back or side sleeping. Stomach sleepers need a great deal of support to avoid putting stress on the spine, while still requiring pressure relief to prevent tension through the shoulders. Latex does provide the former, but it’s less effective for the latter. The firmness layers may also feel slightly too soft or firm for some people, depending on their weight.
Stomach sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds will have the best experience with the Luxe Hybrid, particularly the firm layer, which finds the right balance between support and pressure relief for their needs. However, the firm layer could be a good fit for stomach sleepers of any weight. People who weigh less than 130 pounds, on the other hand, may prefer the softer layer.
EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid is a latex hybrid mattress with an 11-inch profile and two comfort layers that owners can switch to change the firmness level. One layer provides a medium soft (4) feel, and the other layer is firm (7). The latex is naturally cool and bouncier than synthetic foams while still offering moderate pressure relief. Although its performance in some categories does differ between the firmness options, the Luxe Hybrid is a very balanced mattress overall, with excellent support for a wide range of sleepers.
Like the EcoSleep Hybrid, the Luxe Hybrid is constructed almost entirely from natural materials. This begins with the cover, which is made from Joma wool — a type of crimped wool sourced from New Zealand sheep — and 100% organic cotton. Both of these fibers are breathable and moisture-wicking, which is part of why the Luxe Hybrid has excellent temperature regulation.
The comfort system in the Luxe Hybrid is its most complex feature. It consists of two 1.5-inch layers of perforated natural latex, and the mattress’ overall firmness can be adjusted by unzipping the cover and switching the order of the two layers, as one is softer while the other is firmer. Both stay inside the bed, creating a 3-inch comfort layer regardless of your preferred firmness level. The latex used in the Luxe Hybrid is also Rainforest Alliance-certified, which means it’s sustainably sourced.
Most of the Luxe Hybrid’s support core consists of pocketed steel coils. At 8 inches thick, this core is robust enough to support sleepers of any weight. The pocketed coils also compress individually, allowing for better pressure relief and motion isolation than a traditional innerspring design. Finally, a quarter-inch layer of high-density polyfoam—the only synthetic material used in the Luxe Hybrid—provides a shock-absorbing base for the pocketed coils.

The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid has a hybrid design with an 8-inch pocketed coil support core. Its comfort system features two 1.5-inch layers of natural latex that users can switch to adjust the bed’s firmness level.
While far from a budget mattress, the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid does cost less than many of its latex hybrid competitors. Given that it offers adjustable firmness and luxury touches, such as a Joma wool and organic cotton cover, the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid’s price range is considerably lower than average. The manufacturer also offers a lower-priced model, the EcoSleep Hybrid, which is thinner and flippable rather than adjustable.
The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid is available in six standard mattress sizes. For couples with differing firmness needs, the king and California king sizes are available as split mattresses that can be adjusted individually. All of the mattress sizes are heavier than most beds due to the weight of both the latex and the pocketed coil core.

The EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid is only available online through the official EcoSleep website, as EcoSleep does not operate brick and mortar stores or sell through third-party retailers. Shipping is available for customers in the U.S. and Canada.
Shipping
Shipping is free within the contiguous U.S., while customers in Hawaii and Alaska must pay a shipping fee that begins at $125 per mattress.
Shipping in the U.S. is done through FedEx or UPS. Mattresses for customers in Canada are shipped through FedEx International, with fees that start at $250 per mattress. These fees are non-refundable even if you return your mattress through the trial program.
Mattresses are compressed and sealed in plastic for shipment. The mattress must be taken out of the box and allowed to decompress for three to five hours before use. It should achieve its final size and shape after 24 hours.
EcoSleep’s mattresses are custom-made after ordering, with an average production time of ten to fourteen business days. They are manufactured in and shipped from Phoenix, Arizona.
Customers in the contiguous U.S. should receive their mattress three to five days after it is shipped.
Additional Services
EcoSleep does not offer White Glove or old mattress removal services. As the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid is relatively heavy, you should have someone to help you move and unpack your new mattress.
Sleep Trial
EcoSleep offers a 120-night sleep trial for its mattresses. The trial begins on the day the mattress is delivered, but returns are only available after thirty days, which gives customers time to break in their new bed.
Should you choose to return the mattress, EcoSleep will likely have you donate it locally. There are no shipping or restocking costs.
If your mattress is uncomfortable but otherwise satisfactory, EcoSleep will supply a free foam mattress topper that improves pressure relief. The mattress can still be returned throughout the sleep trial if you receive a mattress topper.
Warranty
Brooklyn Bedding backs the EcoSleep Luxe Hybrid with a 10-year limited warranty. The warranty covers lingering impressions that are deeper than 1 inch, sagging despite proper support, and material defects such as cracking or splitting. If these problems develop within the warranty period, Brooklyn Bedding will repair or replace your mattress. However, the warranty cannot be transferred if you sell or give away the mattress.
