Awara is part of the Resident Home family of brands, founded in 2017. The Awara line specializes in competitively priced sleep products using natural materials, including bedding, bed frames, and mattresses. The Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress (stylized as the “Awara Natural LuxuryHybrid”) is the brand’s most budget-friendly offering. This firm (7) latex hybrid model measures 10 inches thick.
The brand’s other mattress model, the Awara Premier Luxury Hybrid, is an upgraded version of the design. With a thicker comfort system, the Premier Luxury Hybrid has a medium firm (6) feel and measures 12 inches thick. This design variation adds pressure relief that’s likely to appeal to side sleepers and individuals under 130 pounds, but it also increases the cost.
We’ll share the results of our in-house quantitative and qualitative assessments, explaining how the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress performed in our tests and which team members found it comfortable. In addition, we’ll detail how its construction impacted the performance and explain pricing and policy information.

Testing Team Takeaways
To test the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid, we had three people on our testing team each take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.
Jackson Lindeke
Executive Product Director
Side sleeper
180 pounds
Showers before bed
With the Awara, you get a lot of bounce when you hit the surface, but the latex also feels plush as your body settles into the mattress. As someone who generally dislikes the close hug of memory foam, this latex hybrid is a solid alternative.
Jeremy Klein
Senior Product Testing Manager
Side sleeper
160 pounds
Nightly melatonin user
The Awara is on the firmer side. As a side sleeper, I noticed some cushioning for my shoulders and hips, but the mattress didn’t completely alleviate pressure buildup in these areas.
Brad Nehring
Senior Product Analyst
Side and back sleeper
215 pounds
Always sleeps with a weighted blanket
I’ve been “team latex” for awhile, and the Awara is a nice showcase for this comfort layer material. The coils also make this mattress feel remarkably sturdy, especially along the edges. A big thumbs-up from me.

Side Sleepers
The Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress is a firm (7) model with limited pressure relief, but some side sleepers who enjoy stable support may find it comfortable. A quilted cover subtly cushions the surface. The 2-inch Dunlop latex comfort layer does not provide deep cradling, but it redistributes weight to an extent, easing pressure from a side sleeper’s hips and shoulders. The pocketed coil core also allows heavier body parts to sink in a bit more deeply.
When laying on their sides on the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress, our testers under 130 pounds reported uncomfortable pressure accumulation around their hips and shoulders. Some over 130 pounds also noted some pressure buildup around these critical regions, though they didn’t feel it would significantly impact their sleep.
Back Sleepers
The best mattresses for back sleepers typically offer ample support with just enough give to cradle the lower back, so the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress is a good match for many who favor this position. Its quilted cover and 2-inch Dunlop latex comfort layer contour enough to mold to a back sleeper’s lumbar region, while the firm (7) feel prevents excessive sinkage that could otherwise pull their spine out of alignment.
Our team members over 130 pounds felt comfortable and well supported when lying on their backs. However, those under 130 pounds thought a slightly softer surface would be closer to ideal for their body types.
Stomach Sleepers
Since most stomach sleepers prefer a sturdy feel without much hug, the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress is a great match. The quilted cover and 2-inch Dunlop latex comfort layer prevent the surface from seeming hard, but they also don’t let a stomach sleeper’s midsection sink in too far..
In our tests, those over 130 pounds reported a good balance between cushioning and support. Those under 130 also got the support they needed, though they would have preferred some additional cushioning.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
5.5
/ 10
“There’s quite a bit of motion transfer when you move on the Awara due to the responsive latex comfort layer. You and your partner may experience sleep disruptions after position changes or middle-of-the-night trips to the bathroom.” – Brad
Because of its responsive design, some vibrations spread across the surface of the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress. This is quite common for latex hybrids, especially firm (7) models like the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid. While the Dunlop latex comfort layer and pocketed coil core limit motion transfer to an extent, sleepers may still feel some movement when their partner changes positions or gets up during the night.
Our testers noticed some motion when a teammate moved around on the other side of the bed and when we dropped a kettlebell. Our vibration sensor also picked up waves of movement throughout our tests.
Pressure Relief
5
/ 10
“How well the Awara relieves your pressure points largely depends on your body type. People who weigh 130 pounds or more and sleep on their back or stomach should find the mattress comfortable, but lighter people — especially side sleepers — may need more cushioning to reduce their pressure buildup.” – Jackson
Firm (7) latex hybrid models do not typically offer significant pressure relief, and the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress follows suit. While the quilted cover and Dunlop latex comfort layer cradle the body slightly, pressure may still accumulate around heavier or wider body parts, like the hips and shoulders.
We used a pressure mapping pad to visualize the pressure buildup our testers experienced. It showed that the mattress redistributed weight, but much of the pressure was still concentrated around key areas. Some team members, especially side sleepers under 130 pounds, also reported experiencing pressure-related discomfort.
Temperature Control
8
/ 10
“Like a lot of latex hybrids we’ve tested, the Awara sleeps quite cool. The latex is ventilated to push air close to the surface, the cover is breathable, and the firm feel ensures you won’t sink into the mattress too deeply and feel heat buildup while you sleep.” – Jeremy
The Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress excels in temperature regulation. Latex mattresses are often among the best cooling mattresses due to the material’s natural breathability. Hybrid mattresses also tend to earn high marks because of airflow through their coil cores. So it comes as no surprise that the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid significantly limits heat retention. Its use of temperature-regulating wool adds to this effect.
Our temperature readings showed that warmth dissipated quite quickly when the sleeper moved. Team members who tend to run hot also said they didn’t overheat during the analysis.
Edge Support
8
/ 10
“Even for a latex hybrid, the Awara offers strong edge support. Reinforced coils prevent the perimeter from sinking too much when you get in and out of bed, and none of us felt unstable lying along the edges of this mattress.” – Brad
Thanks to its firm (7) feel and reinforced edge, the perimeter of the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress is highly supportive. Since the edge does not compress a lot, the bed may feel bigger to couples, and sleepers may have an easier time getting into and out of it.
All of our testers reported feeling secure enough to sit or sleep right up to the edge of the bed without any concern that they might slide off.
Ease of Movement
8
/ 10
“The bouncy latex is really helpful when you move across this mattress. I never felt trapped or stuck as I got situated and tried out different sleep positions.” – Jeremy
Buoyant natural latex, a responsive coil core, and a firm feel work together to make the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress easy to move on. Most sleepers don’t sink in very deeply, and the surface doesn’t hold the sleeper’s shape long. This combination can help you change positions and prevent the sensation of being stuck in the bed.
Across weight groups and sleep positions, our testers moved unobstructedly across the sleep surface.
Off-Gassing
8
/ 10
“Latex hybrids like the Awara produce an initial smell — but not off-gassing like you’d get from foam, and not nearly as unpleasant. Airing out the mattress for a few hours before sleeping on it for the first time should do the trick.” – Jackson
Because it incorporates natural materials, we detected very minimal odor when we unpacked the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress. Our team members could barely detect any lingering odor after 24 hours.
This is due to the fact that off-gassing odors are most often caused by volatile organic compounds (VOCs) lingering after synthetic foam is manufactured. Since the Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress uses Dunlop latex instead of foam, it doesn’t have the standard new mattress smell. The model also holds Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, so a third party verifies it is low in VOC emissions. However, there may be a slight natural latex odor.
The Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid Mattress is a firm (7) latex hybrid model that totals 10 inches thick.
It starts out with a cover consisting of rayon and wool. The rayon blend fabric is derived from bamboo, and it is breathable so that air can circulate into the mattress surface. The wool quilted into the cover is certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). It adds a touch of plushness while regulating temperature and moisture.
Next, 2 inches of Dunlop latex serve as the comfort layer. This material is certified organic by the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS). The Dunlop latex subtly contours without a deep hug, providing the sensation of sleeping on top of the bed. Its responsive feel makes it easy to move and lends to a buoyant sensation. Hole punches throughout the layer allow cooling air circulation.
The core consists of 8 inches of pocketed coils for support and bounce. Since each spring moves independently of its neighbor, fewer vibrations travel across the unit and contouring is more customized to the individual sleeper. At the same time, ample airflow helps dissipate heat. The perimeter coils are thicker gauge, reinforcing the edge for sturdy support across the full surface.
Four handles along the perimeter of the lower cover make the mattress easier to move.
