Construction and Materials Comparison

Nectar

The Nectar product line includes three foam mattresses. The mixed foam construction of each mattress offers pressure relief and top-notch motion isolation.

The Nectar

The Nectar mattress is an 12-inch foam mattress with four layers. The mattress has a medium firm feel, with a 6 out of 10 rating on the firmness scale.

The breathable cover promotes airflow near the surface to help the mattress maintain a comfortable temperature. Beneath the cover is a 2-inch comfort layer of gel-infused memory foam for pressure relief and even weight distribution.

The transition layer of the Nectar is 3 inches of dense polyfoam, which prevents sleepers from sinking deeply into the mattress. A 7-inch polyfoam support base reinforces the comfort layers and offers full-body support. The anti-slip bottom cover helps keep the mattress in place on the bed frame.

The Nectar Premier

The Nectar Lush is a 13-inch luxury foam mattress. The medium firm (6) feel allows for even yet moderate contouring.

The cover is composed of breathable fabric with moisture-wicking properties. Additional cooling comes from the comfort layer, which is made of adaptive memory foam infused with gel and phase-change material. These infusions help to reduce heat buildup – a common issue with memory foam.

A 3-inch transitional layer of dense polyfoam prevents excessive sinkage for people who weigh up to 230 pounds, while a 7-inch support foam base layer provides extra stability. The bottom cover has an anti-slip surface to prevent the mattress from shifting on its foundation.

Nectar Premier Copper

The Premier Copper is quite similar to the standard Premier. Both mattresses are considered medium firm (6) and consist of a memory foam comfort layer over transitional and support layers of dense polyfoam. However, there are a few notable differences.

For one, the Premier Copper features a cover infused with copper, which has natural cooling properties. As a result, this mattress offers even better temperature regulation than the Premier. The Premier Copper’s transitional layer is thinner than the Premier’s but its base layer is 2 inches thicker, giving the mattress an overall profile of 14 inches.

Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic uses a proprietary viscoelastic memory foam in its mattresses. The original TEMPUR material is more durable than generic memory foam, giving the Tempur-Pedic mattresses a longer lifespan than most foam mattresses. Due to its high density, this material responds slowly to pressure, conforming exceptionall close to the sleepers body and providing a significant ‘cradling’ feeling.

The company has since expanded to include specialty TEMPUR foams for different firmness levels and features. Each mattress has a combination of foam layers used in the comfort system for a personalized feel. The materials used include:

• Original TEMPUR: The proprietary Tempur-Pedic memory foam originally developed by NASA.
• TEMPUR-ES: TEMPUR foam that is “Extra Soft” (ES) for more cushioning in the comfort system.

Tempur-Pedic produces foam and hybrid models. The company does not disclose the density or thickness of the layers used in each mattress.

Cloud

The Tempur-Pedic Cloud is a 10-inch foam mattress with a medium (5) firmness. This is Tempur-Pedic’s starting price point, and it is designed for mattress in a box shipping and doorstep delivery.

The Cloud has a 360-degree stretch cover so sleepers can experience the close contouring of the memory foam comfort system. The cover is breathable and moisture-wicking.

The comfort system of the Cloud includes two layers of TEMPUR memory foam for a personalized feel and close contouring. The second layer is firmer TEMPUR foam. A polyfoam support base improves the durability of the mattress. The foam construction minimizes motion transfer and cushions pressure points.

Adapt

The Tempur-Pedic Adapt has an 11-inch construction and medium (5) firmness. It is available in a foam or hybrid construction.

The Cool-to-Touch cover of the Adapt mattress is infused with an antimicrobial treatment to resist allergens. The first layer of the Adapt is TEMPUR-ES foam, which is softer to cushion pressure points. A layer of original TEMPUR foam closely contours to the shape of the body.

The foam option has a polyfoam support core, while the hybrid option includes over 1,000 pocketed coils for support.

ProAdapt 

The ProAdapt is a 12-inch Tempur-Pedic mattress that is offered in a foam or hybrid construction. Both models have a SmartClimate dual cover system. The outer cover can be zipped off and machine washed.

The foam construction gives shoppers the choice between a soft (3), medium (5), or firm (7) feel. The hybrid construction is considered medium (5) firm.

The comfort system construction depends on which option shoppers choose. The soft foam and the hybrid models use a layer of TEMPUR-ES and TEMPUR-APR.

Shipping can be handled in several different ways, with many online mattress companies opting to compress their mattresses and ship them in standard size boxes. The mattress in a box shipping method allows delivery companies like FedEx and UPS to deliver to the customer’s doorstep. Tempur-Pedic Shipping Policies

Tempur-Pedic offers free White Glove delivery and old mattress removal within the contiguous United States for almost all of its mattresses. The exception to this is the Tempur-Pedic Cloud mattress, which is specifically designed to ship as a mattress in a box with free standard shipping. Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii incur a $600 delivery and set-up fee. Delivery typically takes one to two weeks.

Returns

Mattresses purchased online typically include a sleep trial. This gives purchasers a chance to try the mattress in their own homes. Sleep trials range in length, with most averaging around three months. Some include a break-in period, or mandatory length of time before a return can be initiated. A mattress in a box mattress cannot be compressed again once it has fully expanded, so the company typically coordinates pickup and donation or recycling of the mattress. Nectar offers a 365-night sleep trial, which is longer than most. This trial begins after a 30-day required break-in period. If the customer decides to return the mattress, Nectar coordinates pickup and donation of the mattress and issues a refund.

Tempur-Pedic Return Policy

Tempur-Pedic mattresses come with a 90-day sleep trial that includes a 30-day mandatory break-in period. If the customer decides to initiate a return, the company helps coordinate mattress pickup. There is a $175 return fee deducted from the refund.

Warranties

A mattress warranty ensures customers can have a defective mattress repaired or replaced. A warranty does not typically cover normal wear and tear, but it does protect against physical defects like deep impressions, splits or cracks in materials, or flaws in the mattress cover.

Most companies offer a mattress warranty of 10 years or longer. Some are prorated, meaning the coverage changes over time. Customers may be responsible for paying a percentage of the original purchase price in the event of a warranty claim. A non-prorated warranty offers the same coverage for the entire length of the warranty.

Nectar provides a lifetime warranty for its mattresses. This covers defects in materials and manufacturing, including impressions greater than 1.5 inches.
