Our team evaluated all three firmness levels of the Serta iComfort Mattress in our Seattle Test Lab, using high-tech tools to see how well each bed performs in terms of temperature regulation, motion isolation, and pressure relief. The results of our hands-on tests can help you decide whether the Serta iComfort will work well for you.

Testing Team Takeaways
To test the Serta iComfort, we had three people on our testing team each take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.

“As a back sleeper, all of the Serta iComfort Standard models felt comfortable to me, though I felt like the Medium was most effective at keeping my spine aligned.”

“The Firm iComfort Standard is a nearly ideal mattress for me, especially when I’m sleeping on my back or stomach. The Plush and Medium models weren’t as supportive, and they were more difficult to change positions on.”

“I received immense pressure relief while sleeping on the Plush iComfort Standard. I also couldn’t detect any motion whatsoever from my partner on the other side of the bed, which was a plus.”
Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers
The iComfort Standard’s highest ratings came from side sleepers. Across all body types, side sleepers will find a good match with at least one of the iComfort’s three firmness levels. Side sleepers up to 230 pounds tend to prefer the Plush and Medium models, while those over 230 pounds should feel more supported on the Firm model.
Zoned support is the primary reason the iComfort works so well for this group. The bed is designed to provide more reinforcement around the midsection, allowing the lower back and hips to sink in gently without compromising spinal alignment. This ensures ample cushioning and extra support where side sleepers need it most.
Back Sleepers
Virtually all back sleepers can find comfort on the Serta iComfort Standard, provided they choose the right firmness level for their weight. The Firm model rates the highest with back sleepers across different body types, particularly those who weigh 130 pounds or more.
Back sleepers under 130 pounds should be satisfied with the Plush and Medium models. Those between 130 and 230 may also find the Medium model comfortable, but they generally prefer the Firm.
Stomach Sleepers
For most stomach sleepers, the Firm model of the Serta iComfort Standard will be the best of the three options. This design can provide the support needed to keep a stomach sleeper’s spine aligned throughout the night. Those under 130 pounds may also be able to find comfort on the Plush and Medium models, but these aren’t adequate for stomach sleepers over 230 pounds.
Some stomach sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds may find that even the Firm iComfort Standard isn’t ideal for them. These sleepers might want to opt for an even firmer mattress to ensure that their midsection doesn’t sink into the mattress at night, which can create strain in the lower back and neck.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Serta iComfort Mattress Review Breakdown
There are five options for the Serta iComfort Standard Mattress, which encompass three firmness levels and three profile heights. The Plush model has a medium (5) feel and comes in 12 and 13-inch profiles. The Medium model measures medium firm (6), with the same profile options as the medium. The Firm model measures firm (7) and has an 11.5-inch profile.

Beneath the cover sits the comfort system, which contains two layers of memory foam atop a layer of transitional polyfoam. The memory foam adds comfort and “hugs” the body, while the polyfoam adds both comfort and support. The second memory foam layer has been infused with graphite to improve temperature regulation.
The support core is made up of high-density polyfoam. This layer has been zoned, which are designed to provide extra support beneath the midsection and promote spinal alignment.

Trial, Shipping, and Warranty Policies
Availability
Mattresses sold through the Serta website are available to residents of the contiguous U.S. Serta mattresses are also sold through other online and brick-and-mortar mattress stores, like Mattress Firm and Mattress Warehouse. Some of these retailers offer shipping to Alaska and Hawaii, as well.
Shipping
Serta offers free White Glove Delivery and old mattress removal. The mattresses are delivered flat and fully expanded, not compressed and rolled in a box like other mattresses sold online. These mattresses generally arrive within 2 to 4 weeks of the original order.
If you purchase a Serta mattress through a retailer, your delivery options and wait times will depend on that seller.
Additional Services
Serta does not offer additional services beyond free White Glove delivery and old mattress removal.
Sleep Trial
Serta iComfort mattresses purchased directly through Serta come with a 100-night sleep trial. The company recommends trying the mattress for at least 30 nights before initiating a return.
For other purchases, the sleep trial varies by retailer.
Warranty
Serta iComfort mattresses come with a 10-year warranty. This warranty covers deep indentations in the foam, split or cracked layers, unraveled stitching, and any other material or manufacturing defects.
For Serta mattresses purchased through a retailer, warranty claims must be filed through that company, not Serta.
