At SleepFoundation.org, we conduct extensive first-person experience tests on all but a select few products. This hands-on approach allows us to provide accurate, data-driven recommendations for mattresses, pillows, sheets, and other sleep essentials.
Guidelines for our testing methodology are as follows:
Every member of our team brings years of industry experience and knowledge to our hands-on evaluations. In addition to testing products, we’ve spoken to sleep experts and toured manufacturing sites.
Our testers fall into different categories based on body type, sleep position, and personal preferences. This level of diversity helps to ensure our product ratings are holistic and inclusive of all sleepers.
Each type of sleep product is tested using a unique set of performance criteria. We also assign ratings based on feedback from testers who fall into specific categories based on weight and sleep position (i.e. side sleepers who weigh 130 to 230 pounds).
We do not personally test CPAP equipment, anti-snoring mouthguards, supplements, and other medical devices that require a doctor's prescription. Rather than using specific rating criteria, we rely on our team's extensive knowledge of sleep products and medical industry standards to pair each reader with the right devices. These evaluations are also based on material and design quality, features, and other noteworthy product attributes.
The DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm Mattress is a hybrid model with a medium firm feel. Multiple foam layers conform to the body and ease pressure, while a memory foam lumbar support band provides dedicated lower back support to promote good sleep posture.

DreamCloud launched in 2018 with a focus on balancing quality and affordability. Its mattress line includes several popular hybrid and all-foam models, including the DreamCloud Classic, DreamCloud Premier, DreamCloud Luxe, and DreamCloud Ultra. The DreamCloud PressureSmart hybrid model is one of the newest additions to the brand’s product lineup and is available in four distinct designs. This review will focus on the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm, the most affordable version of the mattress.
The DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm has an 11-inch profile and a medium firm (6) feel based on our 10-point firmness scale. It is constructed with polyfoam and memory foam comfort layers over a support core of robust pocketed coils.
Other variations of the PressureSmart Mattress include the PressureSmart Plush, the PressureSmart Plush Pillow Top, and the PressureSmart Extra Firm Pillow Top. These models have higher profiles, ranging from 12 to 15.3 inches, but each one shares a similar design and overall feel to the PressureSmart Firm.
We performed a series of hand-on tests in our sleep lab to see how the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm performed. We’ll break down our findings, summarize construction and sizing information, and go over company policies to help you decide if this is the mattress you’re looking for.

Testing Team Takeaways
To test the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm Mattress, we had three people on our testing team each take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.

“When lying on my side, I sank into the surface of the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm just the right amount. It cradled my shoulders and hips without letting any part of me sink in too deeply.”

“I normally prefer a slightly plusher mattress, but I could sleep comfortably on this model. Some vibrations spread over to my side when my testing partner moved around, but not to the level of being disruptive.”

“This is one of those rare mattresses that felt nearly equally comfortable when lying on my side, back, and stomach. The combination of support and conforming was right in the sweet spot.”

Side Sleepers
The DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm received high marks from most side sleepers on our testing team. Adaptive polyfoam quilyted into the cover provides subtle cushioning on the surface, while the specialized foam layers underneath add deeper cradling. Our pressure mapping showed that this mattress effectively redistributed body weight for most side sleepers. At the same time, the lumbar support band prevented their midsections from sinking too deeply into the mattress.
Due to the surface’s medium firm (6) design, testers who weigh 130 pounds or more felt the least amount of pressure. While the mattress was also comfortable for most of our side sleepers under 130 pounds, we observed some slight pressure buildup around their hips and shoulders — this could contribute to mild discomfort over time.
Back Sleepers
The DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm’s medium firm feel and supportive design is a good match for many back sleepers. The surface is well cushioned, allowing the mattress to mold to the shape of the spine, while the lumbar band helps prevent excessive lower back and hip sinkage that could negatively affect posture and cause strain.
Back sleepers up to 230 pounds appreciated that the mattress felt soft yet supportive at the same time. However, some of our back sleepers over 230 pounds felt like their hips needed a little more support to ensure optimal sleep posture.
Stomach Sleepers
Most stomach sleepers on our testing team found the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm quite comfortable. The polyfoam in its quilted cover ensured the surface didn’t feel hard, but the lumbar band also reduced the midsection sinkage stomach sleepers often experience.
For testers under 130 pounds, the balance of cushioning and support was nearly ideal. Those between 130 and 230 also received the support they needed, making the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm a solid option for both stomach sleepers and combination sleepers weighing up to 230 pounds. That said, our stomach sleepers over 230 pounds found that the mattress had too much give and didn’t fully support their midsections, putting stress on their lower backs.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in ourTest Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
7
/ 10
“The surface shook a bit during testing, but nothing I’d be concerned about. It seemed to isolate minor vibrations very effectively.” – Logan
We found the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm’s motion isolation comparable to other foam hybrid mattresses we’ve tested, which tend to do well in this category.
The multiple foam layers dampen motion on the surface. The coils underneath add bounce, which may contribute to some minor vibrations. That said, the coils move independently of each other, so movement doesn’t spread too extensively.
This level of motion isolation should be well suited to couples sharing a bed, though some sleepers might notice the occasional movement if their partner tosses and turns.
Pressure Relief
8.5
/ 10
“Like the name suggests, the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm’s pressure relief is what really stood out to me. The light contouring and targeted lumbar support should be an especially good match for side sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds.” – Brad
Pressure relief is the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm’s standout strength, outperforming many competing medium firm (6) hybrids in this category. The multilayer comfort system provides deep cushioning, and our body-mapping readouts showed even weight and pressure distribution across the surface. At the same time, the lumbar pad’s targeted support helps ensure that the deep contouring doesn’t come at the cost of good sleep posture.
Side sleepers and anyone with pressure-related sleep discomfort should find this balance of cushioning and support particularly beneficial.
Temperature Control
7.5
/ 10
“The DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm’s surface generally felt cool, and I didn’t overheat or feel uncomfortable.” – Mary
The DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm provides solid temperature regulation, performing in line with or slightly better than most competing hybrid mattresses. Airflow through the coil system helps dissipate heat, and fibers embedded into the cover make the fabric feel cool to the touch.
While the foam trapped a slight amount of body heat, this is typical for any mattress with foam layers. Testing team members did not report feeling too warm, and the overall temperature control was consistent.
Edge Support
7.5
/ 10
“The perimeter of the mattress felt secure enough to lie or sit along the edge without any concerns. I’d expect most couples to be able to use the full mattress surface without avoiding the edge.” – Logan
Thanks to the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm’s reinforced edge, our team members could sit securely along the perimeter and lie on the full mattress surface without gravitating toward the center. Firmer coils along the edges help prevent the excessive compression that often happens when sleepers near the sides, resulting in a more stable feeling perimeter.
Not only can this make it easier for those who tend to sleep close to the edge, it may also help the bed feel bigger to couples.
Ease of Movement
7
/ 10
“I could feel the responsiveness of the coil system helping me change positions. I sank in noticeably, but I never felt trapped in the bed.” – Brad
Like many hybrid models, the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm’s responsive coil core makes it fairly easy to move on. While the hug of the foam comfort system may feel slightly restrictive to some, the bounce of the coils helps ensure sleepers won’t feel trapped in the bed. Our testers also found that the foam regained its shape quickly when they moved, so there wasn’t a lasting body impression to escape from.
Durability
7
/ 10
Hybrid models often last 6.5 to 7.5 years, and we expect the DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm to reach this lifespan. While foam naturally degrades over time, DreamCloud’s lifetime warranty provides recourse if it wears out prematurely.
Since the mattress is still relatively new to the market, long-term performance data is not yet available.
The DreamCloud PressureSmart Firm Mattress is a medium firm (6) hybrid model measuring roughly 11 inches thick.
A stretch-knit quilted cover encases the mattress. The fabric is infused with specialty cooling fibers for enhanced temperature regulation.

Two layers of polyfoam are quilted into the cover to cushion the surface, and a memory foam lumbar pad reinforces the center of the bed to help promote spinal alignment. Additional foam layers provide cradling and support around the hips and shoulders.
A pocketed coil support core reinforces the comfort layers. Since the coils can move independently of each other, the mattress doesn’t produce much motion transfer despite the notable bounce. Sturdier coils around the perimeter also make it easier to get in and out of bed without sinking too much. A high-density foam base stabilizes the coils.
