At SleepFoundation.org, we conduct extensive first-person experience tests on all but a select few products. This hands-on approach allows us to provide accurate, data-driven recommendations for mattresses, pillows, sheets, and other sleep essentials.
Guidelines for our testing methodology are as follows:
Every member of our team brings years of industry experience and knowledge to our hands-on evaluations. In addition to testing products, we’ve spoken to sleep experts and toured manufacturing sites.
Our testers fall into different categories based on body type, sleep position, and personal preferences. This level of diversity helps to ensure our product ratings are holistic and inclusive of all sleepers.
Each type of sleep product is tested using a unique set of performance criteria. We also assign ratings based on feedback from testers who fall into specific categories based on weight and sleep position (i.e. side sleepers who weigh 130 to 230 pounds).
We do not personally test CPAP equipment, anti-snoring mouthguards, supplements, and other medical devices that require a doctor's prescription. Rather than using specific rating criteria, we rely on our team's extensive knowledge of sleep products and medical industry standards to pair each reader with the right devices. These evaluations are also based on material and design quality, features, and other noteworthy product attributes.
The CoolNest Pro Mattress is an upgraded and budget-friendly all-foam model from SweetNight. It incorporates features designed for cooling and pressure relief, including phase change material, perforated layers, gel-infused foam, and zoned support.

SweetNight is a budget-friendly sleep product company founded in 2011. In addition to mattresses, SweetNight sells frames, pillows, and toppers. Its current mattress line consists of all-foam and hybrid models, including the SweetNight CoolNest, the SweetNight Twilight.
The SweetNight CoolNest Pro is one of the company’s premium models. This all-foam mattress has a medium (5) feel. While the standard CoolNest Pro measures 14 inches thick, 12- and 16-inch variations are also available. Designed for pressure relief and temperature control, the mattress incorporates features common in higher-priced models, such as zoning and phase change material.
We’ll go over the results of our in-house tests to help you understand whether this model is a good match for your sleep needs and preferences. Additionally, we’ll share the construction information and policies that may make a difference in your purchase decision.

Testing Team Takeaways
To test the SweetNight CoolNest Pro, we had three people on our testing team each take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.

“Personally, I’d prefer a firmer mattress. I didn’t feel like I was maintaining great posture overnight. The zoning seemed to help some, and the mattress was comfortable enough to get the job done. But it’s probably a better option for lighter individuals.”
Logan Foley
Executive Product Director

“The CoolNest Pro’s combination of motion isolation and pressure relief really stood out to me. Movement across the mattress surface didn’t wake me overnight. And when I woke up the next morning, I didn’t have any pressure-related aches or pains.”

“For the money, the SweetNight CoolNest Pro has an impressive array of features. Normally, we see things like zoned support phase change materials in models with much heftier price tags.”

Side Sleepers
The SweetNight CoolNest Pro is designed for pressure relief, which is usually a high priority for side sleepers. Many who prefer this sleeping position will appreciate the close hug of this model’s memory foam layers, which molds to their shape to help lessen the force around their shoulders and hips. Side sleepers might also benefit from the zoned support designed to promote good posture.
Since the CoolNest Pro has a medium (5) feel, it performed best for our side-sleeping testers under 130 pounds. This group felt that they sank in enough for ample pressure relief without sagging or overcompressing the foam. Team members weighing 130 pounds or more also felt comfortable on the mattress, but some said the surface had a little too much give for them.
Back Sleepers
Many back sleepers find the SweetNight CoolNest Pro comfortable. While the memory foam helps cradle their lower backs, the zoning limits how deeply their hips sink into the mattress. That combination could help reduce stress on the lower back for some sleepers. As a medium (5) model, though, the trick is ensuring the mattress is the right match for your body type.
In our tests, back sleepers under 130 pounds generally reported a good balance of conforming and support. However, some over 130 pounds could have used a bit more support, especially if they tended to carry weight around their hips.
Stomach Sleepers
While some stomach sleepers will find the SweetNight CoolNest Pro comfortable, firmer mattresses typically perform better with those who consistently favor this position. However, this model’s medium (5) feel is likely to feel plush against the front of a stomach sleeper’s body, and the zoning can help limit midsection sinkage to an extent.
Among our stomach-sleeping testers, those under 130 pounds rated the SweetNight CoolNest Pro the highest. Some would prefer a slightly firmer feel but most could sleep in this position comfortably, especially if they shifted positions throughout the night. Stomach sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds also found the support adequate, though some over 230 pounds reported lower back discomfort from their midsections sinking in more deeply than the rest of their bodies.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
9.5
/ 10
“There aren’t many models that can surpass the SweetNight CoolNest Pro in motion isolation. I barely felt any movement at all when I was lying on the bed next to someone else.” – Colin
Motion isolation is one of the SweetNight CoolNest Pro’s greatest strengths. The comfort system alone uses four layers of foam, which absorb most vibrations. The two memory foam layers are particularly good at this since the material compresses directly under the sleeper’s weight, rather than spreading that force across the surface.
Our team members did not report experiencing notable motion when their testing partners moved around next to them. Additionally, our vibration sensors didn’t record much movement when we dropped a kettlebell on one side of the bed. These results may make the SweetNight CoolNest Pro a good option for couples sharing a bed.
Pressure Relief
9
/ 10
“This model’s pressure relief is pretty impressive. It hugged my body closely, and my shoulders and my hips didn’t feel sore from the contact.” – Logan
Thanks to its thick comfort system, two layers of memory foam, and medium (5) feel, the SweetNight CoolNest Pro excels at pressure relief. Most sleepers can sink in fairly deeply, with the comfort system cushioning and cradling the sleeper to limit pressure points. Zoning adds to the effect, creating seven distinct firmness regions for more targeted contouring and support.
When we used a pressure mapping pad to visualize where our testers pressed hardest against the surface, we noticed very few hot spots. Side-sleeping testers also noted that the mattress didn’t make their hips or shoulders feel sore or achy.
Temperature Control
7
/ 10
“The surface didn’t feel cool to me, but it also didn’t seem to trap heat the way some memory foam models do.” – Jeremy
The SweetNight CoolNest Pro maintains a relatively neutral temperature compared to many medium (5) all-foam models. Memory foam is prone to heat retention because of its density and close conforming, especially with softer beds that sleepers sink more deeply into. However, the CoolNest Pro incorporates several features intended to counteract this.
The cover is designed for breathability, phase change material-infused and gel-infused foam is engineered to redistribute heat, and two perforated layers enhance air circulation.
Our temperature readings detected mild lingering warmth, but team members said that the heat retention was not significant enough to interfere with their sleep. This level of temperature control is suitable for many sleepers, but those prone to significant overnight overheating may notice the warmth more.
Edge Support
6
/ 10
“I could use the edge of the bed, but it compressed quite a bit under me. I wouldn’t say I avoided it completely, but I did feel more secure sleeping closer to the center.” – Colin
Like many all-foam models, the SweetNight CoolNest Pro has moderate edge support. The foam compresses noticeably under pressure along the perimeter of the mattress, which may make it feel less secure for sleeping or sitting.
During our tests, the compression was more significant for team members over 230 pounds. Some of them felt they should avoid the edge to make sure they didn’t roll off. However, those under 130 pounds reported that they could use the full surface of the mattress without restricting themselves to the center of the bed.
Ease of Movement
6
/ 10
“The CoolNest Pro wasn’t the easiest surface to move on, but I could change positions without any problems.” – Logan
The SweetNight CoolNest Pro’s medium (5) feel and close hug can make movement slightly more challenging, though most sleepers probably won’t find it excessively difficult.
Given this model’s thick comfort system, sleepers can sink in fairly deeply. Additionally, the memory foam doesn’t instantly regain its shape when they move, so it may take some effort for a sleeper to get out of their own body impression.
For our testers, the ease of movement didn’t interfere with their sleep or negatively impact their overall experience. However, sleepers with mobility issues who frequently change positions overnight may prefer a more responsive surface.
Durability
6.5
/ 10
Mattresses with low prices often won’t hold up as well as higher-end models, but we’d expect the CoolNest Pro to last close to the average life expectancy of all-foam mattresses, 6 to 7 years.
As with similarly constructed models, the foam may naturally wear out over time, which could affect the support and comfort. Follow SweetNight’s care and maintenance guidelines to help reduce the risk of premature degradation.
The SweetNight CoolNest Pro Mattress is a medium (5) all-foam model. The standard version of the mattress measures 14 inches thick, though 12- and 16-inch options are also available.

A polyester cover encases the SweetNight CoolNest Pro Mattress. The cover is built to feel cool to the touch while allowing air circulation so that heat can dissipate. Under the cover rests a layer of polyfoam infused with phase change material engineered to regulate temperatures.
Next, two layers of memory foam mold closely to the sleeper’s body to spread out pressure. Both layers have perforations to enhance airflow, and the bottom layer also incorporates a gel infusion designed to redistribute heat. An additional layer of polyfoam acts as transitional support to help stabilize the surface and even out weight distribution.
Finally, the core uses polyfoam with seven firmness zones intended to support spinal alignment.
At this time, the SweetNight CoolNest Pro is only sold in standard queen and king sizes. Other options such as twin, twin XL, full, and California king are not available.
