Here in Seattle, the team in our Test Lab is always working to find the best mattresses for different types of sleepers. Over the years, we’ve tested more than 2,000 mattresses, and this extensive experience gives us a lot of perspective on what works and what doesn’t.

Our testing process incorporates quantitative data that we collect using trusted technology. For example, temperature readings and pressure mapping can give clear details about mattress performance.

Our team consists of testers with different body weights and sleep positions, all of whom test the mattresses and tell us what stands out (both good and bad). The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid and the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid have similar designs, construction, performance, and pricing. Both are quality options for people in search of a straightforward hybrid that balances comfort and support.

For the Signature Hybrid, you can choose between three firmness levels, including medium soft (4), medium firm (6), and firm (8). The DreamCloud Premier is only available with a medium firm (6) feel. As a result, people who want a noticeably softer or firmer mattress, including many of those who weigh either under 130 pounds or over 230 pounds, will likely lean toward the Signature Hybrid.

On the other hand, the DreamCloud Premier has more appeal for those wanting a flexible return policy. Its sleep trial lasts 365 nights compared to the 120-night trial for the Signature Hybrid. In addition, DreamCloud offers free returns, while Brooklyn Bedding charges a $99 return fee.

Construction and Details

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid and DreamCloud Premier Hybrid are both foam hybrids, but their designs are distinct from one another.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress Breakdown

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is 13.25 inches tall and comes in three firmness options. On our firmness scale of 1 to 10, these options correspond to medium soft (4), medium firm (6), and firm (8). 

The cover is a polyester blend that includes GlacioTex fabric, which is made from fibers intended to draw excess heat away from the body. Two different .75-inch layers of polyfoam are quilted into the cover and gently cradle the body when you first lie down on the mattress.

The next layer is 1 inch of gel-infused memory foam. This material adapts to the body, providing deeper cushioning for joints and pressure points. Memory foam also helps isolate motion, and the gel is designed to keep the foam from trapping heat. Beneath the memory foam, a 1-inch layer of polyfoam offers a touch of pushback to prevent excessive sinkage.

Beneath the comfort layers, the Signature Hybrid has a transition layer made with 1 inch of dense polyfoam. Below that is the support core, made of 8-inch, individually wrapped coils that reduce motion transfer and provide tailored support. The bottom layer is made with .75 inches of high-density polyfoam that helps stabilize the mattress.

Brooklyn Bedding offers an optional pillow-top for the Signature Hybrid that consists of polyfoam treated with a phase change material to promote temperature neutrality. With the pillow-top, the Signature Hybrid is 14 inches tall. 

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Breakdown 

The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is 13 inches tall and has a medium firm (6) feel. Like the Signature Hybrid, its cover is made with a polyester blend containing specialty fibers engineered for better temperature regulation. 

The mattress has a sleek Euro-style pillow-top with a layer of polyfoam quilted into it. This is designed to provide direct cushioning without too much sinkage. 

The other layer in the Premier Hybrid’s comfort system is made with memory foam. This layer conforms to the body and distributes pressure evenly, rather than letting it concentrate in hot spots. 

The transitional layer is made with responsive polyfoam that gives the mattress more pushback and reinforces areas like the hips, midsection, and shoulders. 

The support core contains pocketed coils that are 8 inches tall and designed to offer extra stability around the edge. As with the Signature Hybrid, the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid’s pocketed coil system provides responsive support while reducing vibrations on the mattress surface. A layer of dense polyfoam serves as a shock-absorbing base for the entire mattress.

Mattress Sizing and Weight 

These two mattresses have similar dimensions, with the Signature Hybrid standing just a quarter inch taller than the Premier Hybrid. The Signature Hybrid weighs a bit more, but it takes two people to move either of these mattresses safely. Both have sewn-on handles to make moving them easier.

The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is available in all standard mattress sizes. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is offered in standard sizes and a number of less common sizes, including shorter sizes meant for use in RVs.

Performance Ratings 

Our testing found that both the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid and the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid provide solid all-around performance. The differences between them depend significantly on which firmness option of the Signature Hybrid you choose.

When comparing the medium firm (6) Signature Hybrid to the Premier Hybrid, our team found few major differences. The DreamCloud provided modestly better edge support and ease of movement, but the Signature Hybrid slept a touch cooler.

The medium soft (4) Signature Hybrid has more contouring, pressure relief, and motion isolation than the Premier Hybrid, but those characteristics also contribute to heat retention and reduced edge support.

The firm (8) model of the Signature Hybrid offers less pressure relief and motion isolation, but it has a leg up on the DreamCloud Premier for edge support, ease of movement, and temperature regulation.

Our Test Lab analysis found that both mattresses contain quality materials that should translate to meaningful durability. We expect these mattresses to provide strong performance for at least five to seven years.
