Our Verdict  

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe tends to be lower in price than the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid. However, if you choose to add the pillow-top option to the Aurora Luxe, the cost is comparable. 

Without that add-on, the Aurora Luxe measures 13.25 inches thick, making it slightly thinner than the 14-inch DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid. DreamCloud also offers a trial period of 365 nights compared to Brooklyn Bedding’s 120-night trial. Both brands offer a limited lifetime warranty for their mattresses.

While the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid has a medium firm (6) feel, the Aurora Luxe is available in medium soft (4), medium firm (6), and firm (7) designs. Medium firm is right around where most sleepers prefer, but some side sleepers under 130 may appreciate the Aurora Luxe’s softer option, while stomach sleepers and individuals over 230 pounds should enjoy the firm feel. 

Both the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe and the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid have generous comfort systems for significant pressure relief. We found that the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid provided more of a hugging sensation because it includes memory foam closer to the surface, whereas the Aurora Luxe starts with polyfoam. This helped the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid earn higher marks for motion isolation. 

In contrast, by using more responsive polyfoam on top of its memory foam layer, the Aurora Luxe stood out more for its ease of movement. The edge also felt significantly more stable to our testers. Additionally, we detected slightly less heat retention on the surface. The Aurora Luxe’s GlacioTex cover and copper-infused responsive foam are both designed to promote cooling, which may contribute to its performance.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Breakdown

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is a 13.25-inch hybrid available in medium soft (4), medium firm (6), and firm (7). It starts with a GlacioTex cover, which is a proprietary material designed for cooling. A .75-inch layer of polyfoam quilted into the cover adds cushioning while letting air circulate. Another 1.5 inches of polyfoam enhance the contouring and respond quickly to position changes. Copper infused into the material is also intended to draw heat away from the sleeper to keep the surface cooler. Underneath that, memory foam deepens the cradling for notable pressure relief. 

A polyfoam layer rounds out the comfort system, making the transition to the firmer core more seamless. That core uses 8-inch pocketed coils that provide some bounce while limiting the spread of vibrations. These coils are arranged in distinct firmness zones to enhance the lumbar support and fortify the edge. A final .75-inch layer of high-density polyfoam provides a stable base. 

For an extra charge, buyers can also add on a pillow-top designed for extra cushioning and cooling.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Breakdown 

The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is a medium firm (6) mattress with a 14-inch profile. It starts with DreamCloud’s CloudQuilt+ Euro-top. The fabric incorporates cooling fibers to keep the surface at a comfortable temperature. A memory foam comfort layer is also stitched into the top cover for close-conforming pressure relief and exceptional motion isolation. 

A polyfoam transition layer adds zoning to provide extra support around the hips and promote good posture. The core uses 8-inch pocketed coils for responsive support with limited motion transfer. The edges are also reinforced to make using the full surface feel more secure. A polyfoam base layer supports the coils.

Mattress Sizing and Weight 

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe and DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid are similar in terms of profile and weight. Both come in the six standard mattress sizes. In addition, the Aurora Luxe is available in split California king, RV king, and short queen, while the Luxe Hybrid also comes in split king. 

Performance Ratings 

Performance preferences vary between individuals. Based on our testing, both the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe and the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid earned solid marks in the categories that usually matter most to sleepers. However, each bed has distinct strengths that may give it an edge over the other, depending on your priorities. 

Because the Aurora Luxe comes in more firmness options, it may be closer to ideal for sleepers whose needs and preferences fall outside of the middle of the range. For instance, side sleepers under 130 pounds often benefit from a softer surface, while stomach sleepers and those over 230 pounds frequently look for firmer support. Based on our testing, most sleepers across body types and position preferences should be able to find a version of the Aurora Luxe that works well for them. 

In contrast, the Luxe Hybrid’s medium firm (6) feel is likely to work for most sleepers across body types and position preferences. Based on our testing, it’s best suited to side sleepers weighing up to 230 pounds. Some individuals, particularly stomach sleepers over 230 pounds, may feel like they sink in too deeply.

Shipping options are also similar, with both brands offering free delivery in the contiguous U.S. Brooklyn Bedding and DreamCloud also back their mattresses with lifetime warranties. However, DreamCloud’s trial policy is more generous, giving sleepers a full year to try the mattress and offering free returns.
