At SleepFoundation.org, we conduct extensive first-person experience tests on all but a select few products. This hands-on approach allows us to provide accurate, data-driven recommendations for mattresses, pillows, sheets, and other sleep essentials.
Guidelines for our testing methodology are as follows:
Every member of our team brings years of industry experience and knowledge to our hands-on evaluations. In addition to testing products, we’ve spoken to sleep experts and toured manufacturing sites.
Our testers fall into different categories based on body type, sleep position, and personal preferences. This level of diversity helps to ensure our product ratings are holistic and inclusive of all sleepers.
Each type of sleep product is tested using a unique set of performance criteria. We also assign ratings based on feedback from testers who fall into specific categories based on weight and sleep position (i.e. side sleepers who weigh 130 to 230 pounds).
We do not personally test CPAP equipment, anti-snoring mouthguards, supplements, and other medical devices that require a doctor's prescription. Rather than using specific rating criteria, we rely on our team's extensive knowledge of sleep products and medical industry standards to pair each reader with the right devices. These evaluations are also based on material and design quality, features, and other noteworthy product attributes.
The Keetsa Classic is a hybrid mattress with a surprisingly plush feel given its firm, supportive design. Sleepers enjoy exceptional pressure relief on this model, and excellent motion isolation makes it a top choice for couples.
Keetsa was founded in 2007. The Keetsa Classic Mattress is a hybrid mattress that excels at relieving pressure. With a rating of firm (7) on our 10-point firmness scale, the Keetsa Classic works well for sleepers who need increased support but also enjoy the “hug” of memory foam mattresses.
We brought the Keetsa Classic into our Seattle Test Lab and used high-tech tools to examine its performance in terms of temperature regulation, pressure relief, and motion isolation. We also sent the mattress home with testing team members to find out how it performs in real world settings. Learn what our testing revealed, and if this mattress could work well for you.

Side Sleepers
In our testing, virtually all side sleepers found the Keetsa Classic comfortable. The combination of firm support and thick memory foam cushioning works well for this group. The softer foam layers allow the shoulders and hips to sink into the mattress a bit, which helps keep the spine aligned, but the firm design prevents heavier areas from sinking in too far.
Some side sleepers under 130 pounds may prefer a softer mattress. But, even most lightweight sleepers tend to enjoy the Keetsa Classic and rate it highly.
Back Sleepers
The firm nature of the Keetsa Classic means this bed provides quality support to back sleepers weighing up to 230 pounds. The comfort system gives these sleepers a light “hugging” sensation as they sink into the bed a bit. But, the firmness level ensures these back sleepers don’t sink into the mattress too deeply, which can cause low back pain.
That said, back sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds may want to keep looking. A mattress with a firmer feel and/or less adaptive comfort system should provide the support they need to avoid low back strain.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds enjoyed sleeping on the Keetsa Classic in our tests. For this group, the mattress provided the needed level of support that promotes spinal alignment and comfort.
Stomach sleepers who weigh 130 pounds or more didn’t have as positive of an experience with the Keetsa Classic. For these sleepers, their hips usually sink too deeply into the bed’s comfort system, and this puts strain on the lower back.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
8.5
/ 10
“The motion isolation is exceptional. I couldn’t feel any movement from the other side of the bed.” – Logan
Bouncy coils can make movement across a mattress surface feel more noticeable, but that isn’t an issue with the Keetsa Classic. The 5 inches of memory foam and polyfoam padding in the comfort system do a great job of absorbing movement, making this mattress a good option for couples who share a bed and don’t want to disturb each other with movements.
Pressure Relief
9
/ 10
“I didn’t feel any pressure buildup while sleeping on the Keetsa Classic. I think this would be a good choice for people wanting to ease discomfort.” – Jeremy
A pressure-relieving mattress distributes body weight evenly across the bed’s surface, rather than allowing pressure points to develop beneath heavier body areas. The Keetsa Classic relieves pressure exceptionally well, according to our pressure-mapping tests.
It should be noted that certain sleepers may experience more pressure buildup due to their body weight or sleep position. For example, stomach sleepers who weigh 130 pounds or more and back sleepers over 230 pounds are most likely to notice pressure points on this bed.
Temperature Control
7.5
/ 10
“I slept well all night long without becoming too hot, but some people who overheat easily may not like how much memory foam is in the Keetsa Classic.” – Mary
Like many hybrid mattresses, the Keetsa Classic performs well when it comes to temperature control. The coil support core promotes airflow to help reduce heat buildup. That said, the memory foam layer can absorb body heat, but it probably won’t be bothersome unless you sleep exceptionally warm.
Edge Support
7.5
/ 10
“I felt secure when lying on the edge of the bed, but people who need to use the edges for leverage when getting in and out of bed might want something a little stronger.” – Logan
The pocketed coil support core adds to the edge support on the Keetsa Classic. However, the five inches of comfort foam above the support core may compress beneath your body weight. Most people won’t have an issue sleeping near the edge of the bed on this model, but sleepers who regularly rely on a mattress perimeter for support may want to choose a hybrid model with a firmer overall feel.
Ease of Movement
7
/ 10
“I move around throughout the night, and changing sleep positions was pretty easy on the Keetsa Classic. That said, I did feel resistance from the memory foam at times.” – Mary
Ease of movement on the Keetsa Classic’s surface is about average. Often, the bounce of pocketed coils facilitates a person’s ability to roll over or get out of bed, but this mattress has a very thick comfort system. The memory foam layer “hugs” the body, which can make rolling over take a little more effort for some sleepers.
Durability
7
/ 10
It’s likely the Keetsa Classic will last an average length of time for a mattress of its type, which is roughly 7 years. The foam comfort layers will likely begin to age first. Keep in mind that if indentations in the mattress’ surface grow to 1.5 inches or more, the warranty will cover a repair or replacement of the mattress within the first 12 years after purchase.
The Keetsa Classic Mattress is a firm (7) hybrid mattress that measures 13 inches thick. A blended cotton cover encases the Keetsa Classic. Fiber fill is quilted into the cover for extra padding.

The top comfort layer consists of memory form. Memory foam conforms evenly to the body, creating a “hugging” sensation and making the bed feel adaptive. A fiberglass-free carbon rayon pad serves as a fire barrier. Below that, three layers of comfort polyfoam provide deep cushioning and transitional support.
The support core consists of pocketed coils. This layer stabilizes the mattress and gives the surface a light bounce, but the coils are individually wrapped to minimize motion transfer.
