The Seattle Test Lab is our team’s playground for testing mattresses using our exclusive testing methodology. Our Verdict  

Both the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe and Nectar Luxe Hybrid score exceptionally high in terms of pressure relief, motion isolation, edge support, and durability. Couples who share a bed may be drawn to these models because movements of one partner are unlikely to travel across the surface and disturb the other person. These mattresses are also ideal for people with back pain or joint pain. They relieve pressure well, and strong edges can be used for leverage when getting out of bed.

With medium soft (4), medium firm (6), and firm (7) options, there is an option that works for nearly everyone. Most testers also found the firm (7) Nectar Luxe Hybrid comfortable. Construction and Details

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe and the Nectar Luxe Hybrid are both hybrid mattresses that contain a mixture of foam comfort and transition layers, with a pocketed coil support core. However, there are some differences in their constructions.

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Breakdown 

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is a hybrid mattress available in three firmness levels, which correspond to medium soft (4), medium firm (6), and firm (7) on our firmness scale. Each option shares the same general construction. 

The bed’s GlacioTex cover is 50% polyester and 50% polyethylene, with cooling fibers intended to pull heat from the body. This cover and other cooling features make the Aurora Luxe a standout foam hybrid for cooling and temperature regulation. An optional pillow-top is available for a fee if you need a little extra cushioning on the surface.

Beneath the cover sits the comfort system, which cradles the body to relieve pressure and also includes elements to reduce heat buildup. First, there’s a .75-inch layer of polyfoam quilted into the cover. Beneath it sits another 1.5 inches of polyfoam, which has been infused with copper and gel to add to cooling. A 1-inch layer of gel-infused memory foam adds to the bed’s conforming feel and absorbs motion.

A 1-inch layer of transitional polyfoam provides support while keeping the body from sinking all the way down to the support core. The support core consists of an 8-inch layer of pocketed coils held in place by a .75-inch polyfoam layer. The pocketed coils are zoned, which means there’s increased support beneath the heavier hips and shoulders. Coils around the perimeter are also thicker to maintain strong edge support.

Nectar Luxe Hybrid Breakdown 

The Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress measures firm (7) on our scale. Like the Aurora Luxe, its cover is primarily a blend of polyester and polyethylene designed to promote cooling. The cover has also been treated with an antimicrobial agent to prevent the growth of bacteria.

The Luxe Hybrid’s comfort system consists of one 3-inch layer of memory foam. This plush layer conforms to the body, cushioning the hips and shoulders while relieving pressure. Below it, a 2-inch polyfoam transitional layer adds both pushback and support while keeping sleepers from hitting the support core.

Like the Aurora Luxe, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid has an 8-inch layer of pocketed coils as the support core. These provide support and bounce, and the space within them allows for cooling airflow. Beneath the coil layer, a 1-inch layer of polyfoam adds to the Luxe Hybrid’s stability.

Mattress Sizing and Weight 

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe and the Nectar Luxe Hybrid share similar heights and weights. Both mattresses are sold in twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, California king, and split king sizes. The Aurora Luxe is also available in full XL, short queen, and RV king sizes.
