Originally founded in 1979, Zinus made a name for itself in the sleep industry when it pivoted to selling direct-to-consumer mattresses in the early 2000s. The brand is best known for its budget-friendly hybrid and all-foam mattress models. The Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid Mattress is an upgraded version of the company’s all-foam flagship model, the Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress.

Designed for cooling and even contouring, the medium (5) Green Tea Cooling Hybrid measures 10 inches thick. Thanks to its mid-range firmness and cost-conscious pricing, the mattress can accommodate a wide range of budgets and sleep styles.

We’ll share construction and performance details about the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid Mattress to help you decide if this model is a good value for you. This review also covers size options, shipping rates, and Zinus’ return and warranty policies.

“The Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid is geared toward shoppers on a budget, but it doesn’t skimp on comfort to cut corners. The pressure relief in particular reminds me of higher-end beds.”

“This mattress has everything I expect from a quality hybrid design: strong pressure relief, a stable edge, and a bit of bounce without much motion transfer. Overall, I’d say it’s an exceptional value.”

Side Sleepers

When side sleepers choose a mattress, they typically look for the consistent pressure relief we noticed with the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid during our hands-on tests. By contouring to our curves, the memory foam in this model significantly redistributes pressure away from the hips and shoulders to keep side sleepers comfortable. At the same time, the pocketed coil system added to the cradling by allowing heavier, wider regions to sink in more deeply.

Because of the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid’s medium (5) feel, it offers an excellent balance of pressure relief and support for side sleepers under 130 pounds Side sleepers who weigh 130 pounds or more may also find this model quite comfortable, though some—especially those over 230 pounds—may sink into the bed too much.

Back Sleepers

The Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid is a good match for many back sleepers up to 230 pounds. The memory foam layer molds to the lower back to help support the natural curvature of the spine.

Our back-sleeping testers under 130 pounds reported feeling well supported on the mattress. Many of those between 130 and 230 pounds also found that the mattress maintained good posture, though some in that weight range sank in too far around their hips and noticed some lower back strain. Most back sleepers over 230 pounds will need a firmer, more supportive mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Firmer mattresses typically perform better for stomach sleepers, so the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid’s medium (5) feel isn’t ideal for most people who utilize this position. The memory foam helps prevent the mattress from feeling excessively firm when people are lying face-down, but their midsections may sink in excessively and pull their spine out of alignment.

Many stomach sleepers under 130 pounds will get the support they need from the mattress. The same is true for stomach sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds, particularly if they are combination sleepers who use other positions. However, dedicated stomach sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds will probably sink much too deeply on this mattress.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in ourTest Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

8 / 10

“I noticed a few vibrations on the mattress, but I don’t think it would be enough to wake me up. Most sleepers probably won’t even notice.” – Logan

Like many similarly constructed models, the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid offers great motion isolation. The memory foam absorbs vibrations instead of spreading them, and the pocketed coil system also limits motion transfer because the springs move independently of one another.

Our sensor tests showed slight motion transfer, but our testers did not report feeling much movement when lying side by side on the mattress. This level of motion isolation may appeal to couples sharing a bed.

Pressure Relief

8 / 10

“This mattress provided that deep cradling sensation I’ve come to expect from memory foam comfort systems. The way the mattress molded to my hips and shoulders really relieved pressure.” – Colin

The Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid excels at pressure relief. The memory foam molds closely to your body, redistributing your weight to limit pressure-related “hot spots.” At the same time, the dense transition layer prevents you from sinking into the coil core, while the pocketed coils are meant to keep your body aloft.

When we mapped pressure across the surface, we found the distribution quite even. Our testing team also reported little to no pressure buildup around key regions, like their hips and shoulders.

Temperature Control

7 / 10

“It didn’t feel like my body heat was trapped against me despite the close hug of the mattress. Temperature readings showed some heat retention, but I didn’t notice it personally.” – Jeremy

This model is designed with temperature regulation in mind, and our testing team gave it high marks in this category. Its memory foam layer incorporates a gel infusion engineered to disperse heat, while air circulation through the coil core helps to dissipate that heat farther away from the sleep surface.

We detected mild lingering warmth when we removed a heat source from the mattress, but our testers reported a comfortable temperature throughout the testing process.

Edge Support

7 / 10

“I felt really secure sitting and lying along the edge of the mattress. There was some compression, but nothing that would prevent me from using the full surface.” – Logan

The Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid has solid edge support. Since its comfort system isn’t very deep, sleepers don’t have to sink in as far before reaching the support of the coil core. This can make the edge feel more stable.

When our testers lay or sat along the perimeter of the mattress, we observed mild compression, as we’d expect. However, team members reported feeling comfortable and secure.

For couples and others who use the edge of the bed extensively, the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid’s edge support is unlikely to feel like it’s forcing you toward the center of the bed by sinking out from under you.

Ease of Movement

7 / 10

“The bounce of the coil system made position changes seamless. The memory foam did retain an impression of my body for a moment, but it didn’t feel restrictive.” – Colin

The overall ease of movement on the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid is on par with many medium (5) hybrid models.

Because sleepers can sink in more deeply with this firmness level, movement may take a little effort. The Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid’s memory foam comfort system hugs the body and retains an impression for a moment. However, the bounce of the coil system means the bed is unlikely to hinder too much movement.

In our tests, most team members could change positions and move across the mattress with ease. However, individuals over 230 pounds found movement required more effort because they sank in more deeply.

Durability

6 / 10

“I’d expect this mattress to last reasonably well, especially given its price-point.” – Jeremy

Most hybrid models last around 6.5 to 7.5 years, which is also the projected lifespan for the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid. Foam shows signs of wear and degradation over time, so the mattress may need to be replaced once that natural aging begins to affect surface-level comfort.

Since the Zinus Green Tea Cooling Hybrid has a medium (5) feel and uses memory foam, it may develop impressions a bit sooner than some models. However, the memory foam layer isn’t very thick and coil systems often age well.

The mattress starts out with a knit polyester cover. The top layer of the comfort system uses memory foam that molds to the sleeper’s body in response to heat and weight for notable pressure relief. A gel infusion in this layer is engineered to transfer heat away and help regulate temperatures despite the memory foam’s close hug. Next, a polyfoam transition layer adds deeper contouring while preventing sleepers from feeling the firmness of the coil core as directly.

The base layer contains pocketed coils that move independently of each other to enhance contouring, limit motion transfer, and provide stable edge support. Altogether, the mattress measures 10 inches thick.

Note: A 12-inch version of this mattress may also be available through select retailers. At this time, the 12-inch model is not available through Amazon.com.
