Both mattresses are hybrids. However, they have a slightly different internal composition that affects the way they feel.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress Breakdown

All three Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid models begin with a cotton-blend cover quilted to a thin layer of polyfoam. A memory foam comfort layer infused with cooling gel gives the surface a plush surface, and transitional polyfoam provides additional cushioning while creating a gentle buffer between the comfort system and support core, which contains pocketed coils with perimeter reinforcement and high-density base foam.

The feel of the mattress depends on which firmness you choose. The medium soft (4) design delivers a close hug, while the firm (8) model barely conforms at all and feels quite bouncy. The medium firm (6)’s balance of contouring and pushback makes it appealing to the widest range of sleeper types. This design is also most similar to the Nectar Premier Hybrid’s construction.

Sleepers report that the cooling elements keep the Signature Hybrid cooler than many other foam-on-coil models, but the medium soft model retains more heat than the medium firm and firm options. Moving around is also easier on the latter two designs compared to the medium soft because they feel bouncier and don’t conform to the body as closely.

Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress Breakdown 

The Nectar Premier Hybrid is encased in a polyester-blend fabric cover with cooling fibers designed to draw heat away from the mattress. Its comfort system consists of a 1-inch memory foam layer that hugs the body a bit and relieves pressure. Beneath it, a 3-inch polyfoam layer contributes to both comfort and support while also pushing back and preventing sleepers from sinking into the support core.

Similar to the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid, the support core in the Nectar Premier contains 8-inch pocketed coils sitting atop a layer of dense base foam polyfoam. The coils are reinforced along the perimeter to protect the edges when you get in and out of bed. As with all hybrids, airflow through the pocketed coils helps reduce heat retention.

This mattress rates firm (7) on our firmness scale. Most of our team gave the mattress decent ratings, but the highest marks came from side sleepers weighing at least 120 pounds, back sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds, and stomach sleepers up to 230 pounds.

Mattress Sizing and Weight

Both Brooklyn Bedding and Nectar sell these models in all six standard mattress sizes: twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, and California king. Nectar also offers a split king size for couples who share a king-size adjustable bed. Additional size options are also available for the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid, including short full, short queen, Olympic queen, short king, split California king, and three different RV king sizes. The mattresses share similar profiles and weights.
