Parachute is a U.S.-based direct-to-consumer brand that specializes in high-end bedding. Founded in 2014, the company has since expanded its product line to include a mattress as well as a diverse range of bath linens, furniture, and other accessories. Parachute partners with Nothing But Nets, a United Nations incentive that aims to prevent malaria.

Parachute bedding is made in a family-owned Portuguese factory using long-staple Egyptian cotton and linen from European flax. The sheets are offered in four classic styles: percale, linen, sateen, and brushed cotton. Each set includes a fitted sheet with a 16-inch pocket depth, as well as two pillowcases and the option to add a top sheet. Customers benefit from a 60-day sleep trial to test out the sheets before committing.

This review will explain how these bedding sets differ in terms of feel and construction. We’ll also discuss sizing, pricing, and other practical details to help you decide if a set of Parachute sheets is right for you.

Parachute Sheets Review Breakdown

Understanding what qualities you value most in a sheet set purchase. Below, we’ll take a look at Parachute bedding materials and construction, sizing, color, pricing, and care instructions; to help you narrow down your choice.

Materials and Construction

Parachute offers four standard sheet sets: percale, linen, sateen, and brushed cotton. Each material has distinct advantages and drawbacks to suit different types of sleepers. Parachute sheet sets are free of artificial softeners and carry OEKO-TEX certification, which means they have passed stringent testing for harmful substances. Exact thread counts are not listed but are between 300 and 400, which is considered optimal.

Percale Sheets
Parachute percale sheets are made from certified long-staple Egyptian cotton, hand-picked in the Nile Valley. Long-staple cotton is renowned for its ultra-soft feel and durability. These sheets are woven with a breathable one-over, one-under weave that confers a crisp, cool feel that is well suited to hot sleepers. Each sheet set is garment-washed for added softness. While percale sheets are slower to pill, they do have the disadvantage of wrinkling more easily.

Linen Sheets
Linen is an exceptionally durable fabric that starts out slightly coarse but gets markedly softer over time. Parachute linen sheets are garment-washed and made from natural European flax fibers, featuring the characteristic slubbed and rumpled look of linen. Famously warm in the winter and cool in the summer, this breathable material is a good choice for customers who don’t mind investing a bit more money for a sturdy, year-round sheet set.

Sateen Sheets
Parachute sateen sheets are woven with a four-over, one-under weave that imparts a subtle sheen and an elegant drape. Sateen sheets retain warmth without overheating, making them popular with people who struggle to stay warm at night. As with the percale sheets, these soft, smooth sheets are made from long-staple Egyptian cotton. Sateen sheets are resistant to wrinkling but may pill sooner than other types.

Brushed Cotton Sheets
This cotton sheet set from Parachute has been brushed and garment-washed for added softness. Brushing refers to the practice of gently raising the fibers to create a subtly fuzzy feel. Made with 100 percent cotton woven in a plain weave, these sheets are soft and cozy, ideal for snuggling up in colder climates.

Prices and Sizing

Parachute sheets fall in the luxury price range, but they are more affordable than many competing brands. Parachute runs occasional sales, both online and in brick-and-mortar stores, that can drop the price even further. Opting to buy the basic sheet set without the top sheet can also lower the price tag. Prices are identical regardless of color.

  • Percale Sheets: Percale is a standard weave, and percale sheets can come in a range of price-points depending on the quality of the material. Sheets made with pure high-caliber Egyptian cotton are normally more expensive than other types due to their superior feel and durability. With this in mind, Parachute percale sheets are priced on the low end of average for this category.
  • Linen Sheets: Linen is relatively expensive to produce. As a result, linen tends to be one of the priciest bedding materials. However, many customers find the expense to be well-justified, as linen has traditionally outlasted other material types. The Parachute linen sheet set has a very reasonable price tag for linen sheets of this quality.
  • Sateen Sheets: As with percale sheets, sateen sheet prices vary widely depending on the quality. Parachute’s sateen sheet collection is a little pricier than its percale counterpart.
  • Brushed Cotton Sheets: Brushed cotton sheet prices tend to be comparable to percale or sateen. True to form, the Parachute brushed cotton sheet collection is priced identically to the sateen collection.

Top sheets are not automatically included with Parachute sheet sets. Customers have the option to add these at the time of order.

All sheet sets include two standard pillowcases except for king and California king sets, which come with a king size pillowcase. Fitted sheets are designed for mattresses up to 16 inches tall.

Color, Design, and Pattern Options

Parachute has adopted an understated color palette that matches easily with most bedroom decors. Percale sheets are available in a range of subtle pastel colors, while linen sheets are offered in an extended color palette with several bold, earthy tones. Sateen and brushed cotton sets are more limited in their color options.

Some colors may be temporarily unavailable, or available only for certain sheet sizes. Split King sheet sets in white only are available for the sateen, linen, and percale sheets. Customers who wish to mix and match different color options can do so by purchasing each item separately instead of as a set.

Care and Cleaning

Cotton and linen sheets are generally easy to care for. Parachute cotton sheets (percale, sateen, and brushed cotton) can be machine washed in cold water using mild liquid detergent with no bleach. Tumble dry each item on low heat using wool dryer balls in lieu of dryer sheets, and they should be removed promptly once the tumble cycle is finished. Sheets can be ironed on low heat if needed. Care instructions for the linen sheets are similar, although these can handle being machine washed in warm water.

To make sheets last longer, keep them away from makeup and other skin products, and avoid washing them too frequently. Sheets should generally be washed every week or two to keep them fresh and prevent a buildup of body oils, dust mites, and allergens. Many people rotate sheet sets, alternating one each wash cycle, which can extend the lifespan of each set. Pillowcases may need to be washed more often.

As a general rule, wash sheets separately from other items and avoid fabric softeners. Using less detergent and line-drying your sheets can make them last even longer, and line drying has the added advantage of reducing wrinkles. Anything you do to reduce friction and temperature can prolong the lifespan of your sheets.
