The BedJet is a climate-control device for beds that debuted in 2013. Consisting of an external hub that rests beneath your bed and a hose that delivers air under your sheets, the BedJet can be programmed for any temperature between 66 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The newest version of the device is the BedJet 3 Climate Comfort Sleep System. If you and your partner prefer the same sleep temperature, one device should be sufficient, but you can also opt for the BedJet 3 Dual Zone System for Couples if your preferences differ.
Many sleep products offer passive cooling, meaning they are designed to maintain a comfortable temperature because they are constructed with breathable and moisture-wicking components. The BedJet 3, in contrast, provides active cooling or heating because it delivers temperature-controlled air to your bed throughout the night. The ability to customize your mattress for a specific temperature can be a game-changer for anyone who loses sleep from feeling too hot or too cold in bed.

How Does the BedJet Work?
The BedJet’s external hub draws in outside air, then adjusts the temperature based on your settings. A heating element allows you to warm the air up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The BedJet does not use freon or any other cooling agents, so the coldest available setting will be on par with your bedroom’s temperature.
The hub connects to an accordion-style hose with a plastic nozzle for directing the air. The nozzle can be placed under your top sheet, or you can opt for BedJet’s Cloud Sheet. The Cloud Sheet is dual-layered with a small opening at the bottom for the nozzle to fit. This specialized design helps isolate the air for maximum cooling or heating, depending on your settings.After turning on the device, you should notice a temperature change within minutes.
BedJet recommends placing the Cloud Sheet beneath your top sheet, comforter, duvet, weighted blanket, or any other bed covering you use. However, you don’t need the Cloud Sheet to operate the BedJet.
Standard BedJet 3 models come with a wireless remote, which can be used to program the device’s temperature. You may also input your settings with the BedJet companion app. An app-only version of the BedJet is available and priced a bit lower than the device that comes with a remote.
BedJet for Couples
If you sleep alone or you and your partner share the same temperature preferences, the Single Zone Cloud Sheet is available in twin XL, full/queen, and king sizes. You can also use the BedJet 3 with your existing sheets in that scenario.
Co-sleepers with differing preferences can select the BedJet for Couples bundle, which comes with two external hubs and two individual wireless remotes. This option also includes a Dual Zone Cloud Sheet with two openings, one on each side, and a divider running down the center. The sheet’s construction allows both you and your partner to enjoy airflow at your preferred temperature without interfering with the other person’s settings.
If only one person in a couple wants temperature control, you can also use one BedJet 3 device with a Dual Zone Cloud Sheet and simply connect the BedJet 3 nozzle to the desired side of the bed.
The Dual Zone Cloud Sheet is available in full/queen and king sizes. You may also opt for two twin XL sheets if you and your partner share an adjustable bed.
Our team found the Single Zone and Dual Zone Cloud Sheets effective at their intended function. We were particularly impressed with the latter’s ability to isolate each airflow stream to its respective side of the bed.
Biorhythm Programming
In addition to setting the BedJet to a specific temperature, you can program it to shift to different temperatures throughout the night. This feature is particularly useful for people who often wake up sweating or shivering. You can also set a “temperature alarm” to heat or cool your sleep surface when it’s time to wake up in the morning. This may be preferable to a traditional audio alarm.
Using the wireless remote or app, you can input a temperature at your desired time and set a duration. The BedJet does not detect when you fall asleep, but it will automatically adjust airflow temperature throughout the night based on your settings.
Nailing down your ideal temperature at different times of the night will likely involve some trial and error. We recommend experimenting with heating and cooling to determine which temperature feels most comfortable at any given hour. Naturally, your preferred settings may change throughout the year as weather changes between seasons.
The idea behind this function is that certain temperatures are ideal during different stages of your sleep cycle. If you consistently go to bed and wake up at the same times, you may greatly benefit from hour-to-hour temperature changes. However, this feature may be counterproductive if your bedtime and wake-up times vary on a daily basis.
Setting Up and Maintaining the BedJet
If you purchase a standard BedJet 3, your order includes the following components:
- External BedJet hub
- Accordion-style hose and nozzle
- Plastic bracket for affixing the hose to your bed frame
- Smart remote with two AA batteries
Cloud Sheets are sold separately for standard BedJet 3 orders. The BedJet 3 for Couples includes two of each component listed above, along with a Dual Zone Cloud Sheet.
Installing the BedJet is an easy, straightforward process. After unboxing the device, attach the nozzle to one end of the accordion-style hose. The hose’s opposite end fits snugly inside a port on the external hub. Place the hub under your bed. The hub is fairly compact, and requires only 6 inches of under-bed clearance to fit properly.
The hose rests on top of your sleep surface at the foot of the bed, either tucked inside the Cloud Sheet’s pocket or beneath your own top sheet, and the plastic bracket holds the hose in place. The hose measures 4 feet long. You can purchase a hose extension that increases the length to 8 feet.
BedJet recommends plugging the 6-foot power cord directly into a wall socket. If you need to use a power strip, check to make sure it’s appliance-rated for 1,800 watts. There is not a backup battery, so you’ll need electricity to power the device.
You may sync your smartphone or tablet to BedJet’s companion app during assembly. This step is optional — you can exclusively use the remote if you wish — but setting up the Wi-Fi is a simple process of following prompts on the app. Please note you’ll need Wi-Fi if you order the “app-only” BedJet, as this purchasing option does not include a wireless remote.
The Cloud Sheet comes with a helpful “This Side Down” label, indicating how it should be placed on your mattress. The sheet is 100% cotton and fully machine-washable. For best results during cleaning, dry on medium to low heat — otherwise shrinkage may occur.
Your BedJet 3 comes installed with a reusable air filter. You should rinse the filter in running water every three months. BedJet sells spare filters if the original becomes damaged and a replacement is needed.
If you enjoy aromatherapy, you can purchase an attachment for your BedJet 3 that scents the air. The Aromatherapy Upgrade Kit comes with lavender, tea tree, and chamomile essential oils, but you can use any scent you wish.
Who Should Use the BedJet?
The BedJet is best suited to people who routinely wake up during the night feeling too hot or too cold. Controlled airflow with timed durations can help ensure you sleep at the ideal temperature throughout the night, even if this temperature changes on an hourly basis.
Our team found the BedJet’s heating abilities very impressive and fast-acting. If you prefer exceptionally cold temperatures, the device is more limited in terms of capability. Since the hub does not use any sort of cooling agent, the coldest temperature will be comparable to your bedroom’s temperature. If you’re a hot sleeper who needs steady cooling throughout the night, an air conditioner might be a better investment. This also means the BedJet may not be as effective during exceptionally hot or humid times of the year.
It’s worth mentioning that numerous studies and surveys show the best temperature for sleep is 60 to 67 degrees. Your body temperature drops during the night as part of your circadian rhythm, so maintaining a cooler ambient temperature in your bedroom can complement this natural process. While you may fall asleep more quickly with the help of hotter air, an excessively warm environment can interfere with your body’s ability to regulate temperature and leave you feeling fatigued the next day.
This isn’t to say the BedJet will negatively impact your sleep, but we recommend easing into using the device on a nightly basis. Experiment with timed settings and durations to determine which temperature schedule best suits your sleep preferences and bedroom environment. Finding the right bedding to use may also be tricky. For instance, you may feel most comfortable using a cooling comforter or cooling weighted blanket with the BedJet on a warmer setting.
The BedJet is mostly silent, so sleep disruptions are unlikely. You may notice a light whirring, but the device probably won’t wake you up during the night unless you’re sensitive to noise.
Pricing Information
The BedJet 3 is priced higher than many other sleep products aimed at temperature control, but it’s also one of the only products on the market that actively adjusts sleep surface temperature. The standard BedJet 3 comes with the hub and all necessary accessories. If you opt for the BedJet 3 for Couples, you’ll get a bundle of two hubs, accessories, and Dual Zone Cloud Sheets for less than if you bought these items separately.
Purchasing a BedJet 3 without the wireless remote drops the price a bit. You can also opt for a used BedJet 3 that has been fully refurbished and guaranteed to function properly, albeit with the possibility of minor cosmetic damage. These cost slightly less than brand new models.

BedJet offers free standard shipping to customers in all 50 states, Canada, and select locations in the European Union. All components of the sleep system are delivered together in a single box. You can track your order through BedJet’s website once it’s shipped.
Sleep Trial and Returns
The BedJet comes with a 60-night trial period. You may return the sleep system at any point during the trial. BedJet issues full refunds during the return period and does not charge restocking fees. The company also covers return shipping costs for customers in the U.S., Canada, and the European Union.
Cloud Sheets may also be returned within 60 days of the delivery date. Trial lengths through retailers may differ from BedJet’s. If you purchase through a retailer, check the return policy to ensure it meets your needs.
Warranty
The standard BedJet warranty covers the device, Cloud Sheet, and accessories for up to two years. Manufacturing defects and accidental damage are covered. New and refurbished BedJets both come with a two-year warranty.
You’ll also receive a two-year warranty if you purchase the device through Amazon.com and other retailers, provided you do so directly through the company and not a third-party seller. The warranty cannot be transferred to new owners.

The BedJet is remarkably effective at regulating your sleep surface’s temperature. While the range definitely favors those who prefer warmer settings, choosing a temperature between 66 and 104 degrees gives you plenty of options for optimizing your sleep environment. The ability to program different temperatures throughout the night is also key if you frequently wake up feeling too hot or too cold. We also appreciated the straightforward design and user-friendly controls.
Whether the BedJet improves your sleep will depend on how temperature-sensitive you are in bed.
