Our Test Lab in Seattle is a hive of activity. Our team is constantly analyzing mattresses, and to date, we’ve tested more than 2,000 individual models.

Our Verdict  

The CopperFlex Memory Foam and Nectar Classic mattresses have a ton in common. They have the same height (12 inches) and similar medium firm (6) feels. Both feature memory foam and provide impressive pressure relief and motion isolation. They also have comparable pricing, and are made by well-known brands in the industry.

“The CopperFlex Memory Foam Mattress punches above its price-point. I could feel the foam layers conform to my hips and shoulders, which helped me feel comfortable and well-supported. I did notice a bit of heat retention, but it wasn’t enough to disturb my sleep.”

The CopperFlex Memory Foam Mattress has more interior layers. In our testing, it came out slightly ahead of the Nectar Classic in most performance categories. Though the differences were minor, the CopperFlex earned better ratings for temperature regulation and ease of movement. 

That said, Nectar’s sleep trial is a real advantage. It lasts a whole year and has no return fees. In contrast, Brooklyn Bedding’s trial lasts 120 nights and includes a $99 return fee. Both companies offer free shipping, but only Nectar has an option for White Glove delivery, which includes setup of the Nectar Classic and removal of your old mattress.

“It’s true that the Nectar Classic doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but I found its straightforward design to be more than enough for a good night’s sleep. The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Memory Foam Mattress is 12 inches tall and has a firmness level of medium firm, or a 6 on our 10-point firmness scale. 

The cover is made with a smooth knit fabric. Inside, this all-foam mattress has six individual layers. 

The top three layers form the comfort system. The first layer is 1 inch of adaptive polyfoam that is quilted into the cover. The second layer is 1.5 inches of copper-infused memory foam, and the third layer is .75 inches of polyfoam. 

The materials in the comfort system work together to cradle the body and cushion pressure points. The copper-infused foam is also engineered to reduce heat buildup near the body.

The fourth layer is 3 inches of polyfoam, and the fifth layer is .75 inches of polyfoam that is reinforced in the lumbar area. These form the transition layer, which helps give the mattress structural integrity and protect against excess sinkage.

The sixth layer is the support core, which is made of 5 inches of high-density polyfoam. This serves as the base for the mattress, enhancing durability and overall support.

Nectar Classic Mattress Breakdown 

Like the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Memory Foam Mattress, the Nectar Classic is 12 inches tall. It also has a firmness level of medium firm (6).

The Nectar Classic has a sleek polyester blend cover. Its interior construction is straightforward, with three different foam layers.

The top layer is 1 inch of gel-infused memory foam. This foam has moderate contouring, hugging the body to decrease pressure buildup around joints and the lower back. The gel infusion is designed to reduce heat retention, which can be a drawback of memory foam.

The second layer is 3 inches of transition polyfoam that gives a steady feel to the mattress. This foam has enough firmness to keep you from sinking into the bed but also has enough give to support heavier parts of the body. 

The third layer is 8 inches of high-density polyfoam. This support core is a source of sturdiness, protecting against excess sinkage while offering additional firmness around the edges of the bed.

Mattress Sizing and Weight

Brooklyn Bedding and Nectar offer these mattresses in all the standard mattress sizes. The two models have similar dimensions, checking in at 12 inches tall. They also have a comparable weight. 

In larger sizes, it usually takes two people to move these mattresses, but their all-foam designs give them a lower weight than hybrid mattresses.
