Why You Should Shop Amazon Prime Day

Amazon Prime members receive a wide range of perks with their monthly or annual subscription. Benefits of shopping for sleep products on Amazon.com during Prime Day include:

  • Exclusive Discounts: During the 48 hours of Prime Day 2024, Amazon will cut prices for a wide range of products across different departments. Some of these discounts will be open to any shoppers but others will only be available to Prime members. Check for the Prime logo when you shop to learn whether a markdown is exclusive.
  • Free Expedited Shipping: Same-day, 1-day, and 2-day shipping is often free of charge for Prime members. You can read about shipping options in the top right-hand corner of any Amazon.com product page.
  • Scheduled Delivery Date: As part of the Amazon Day service, Prime members can shop for items during the week and schedule all of them to arrive on the same day. This option is available Monday to Saturday only. You can change the delivery date at any time.
  • Clothing Trials: If your Prime Day shopping list includes sleepwear, you may be able to try on the garments before finalizing your purchase as part of the Amazon Wardrobe service. Each item comes with a 7-day trial period, and returns are free of charge.
  • Save on Prescriptions: Included with your Prime membership at no extra cost, the Amazon Pharmacy program allows you to save up to 80% on prescription medication. You’ll qualify for these discounts if your insurance co-pay and or deductible exceed the cost of your Prime subscription, your prescription isn’t covered by insurance, or you don’t have medical insurance.
  • Free Trial for Members: If you’ve been considering an Amazon Prime subscription but haven’t followed through, Prime Day is a great time to sign up. All members receive a 30-day trial, during which they won’t be charged a monthly or yearly fee. You can cancel the trial at any time.
  • “Sleep Trials” for Many Products: Buying a mattress, pillow, or other sleep accessory online can be intimidating because you can’t be sure whether or not you’ll be satisfied with the product. Many brands offer sleep trials, during which you can test out the item before deciding whether to keep it or return it.

Tips for Finding the Best Deals on Amazon Prime Day

If you’re a Prime Day novice, here are a few tips to help you find the best Prime Day sales and discounts on sleep products:

Get to Know Amazon.com

Before Prime Day sales launch, spend some time browsing the site to get a feel for its general layout. Visit different departments to learn which specific products are sold in each, and also take a moment to peruse shipping options. Familiarizing yourself with Amazon.com will ensure your Prime Day shopping goes as smoothly as possible.

Start Looking for Deals a Week Beforehand

One week prior to Prime Day’s official launch date, you may be able to take advantage of some early-bird discounts during the Pre Prime Day sales period. These deals usually continue up to Prime Day, and some extend one week later as part of the Post Prime Day period.

Download the Amazon App

You can also get early alerts about Prime Day deals by downloading the Amazon app to your smartphone or tablet device. The app includes a Watchlist tool that allows you to earmark products you’re interested in and receive an alert as soon as the discount launches.

Create a Shopping List

Amazon allows customers to make a “Wish List” of items they’d like to purchase at a future date. This tool is particularly handy leading up to Prime Day. You can add items to or remove them from your Wish List at any time.

Sign up for Waitlist Alerts

Lightning Deals occur throughout Prime Day. These deals come and go rather quickly and without much advance notice. You can add your name to an Amazon Waitlist and receive alerts about different Lightning Deals. However, you must complete your purchase within 15 minutes of getting the alert or the item will be transferred to the shopping cart of the next customer in line.

Amazon Prime Day FAQ

Do I need an Amazon Prime membership to participate in Prime Day?

Most Prime Day deals are exclusively available to people who either have an active Amazon Prime membership or are in the middle of their 30-day free trial period. If you haven’t signed up for Amazon Prime yet, be sure to do so before the Prime Day deals kick off.

When is Prime Day 2024?

Amazon Prime Day 2024 will take place on Tuesday, July 16, and Wednesday, July 17.

Are any Amazon sleep products available with Prime Day discounts?

The AmazonBasics home goods department includes a wide range of sleep and bedding products, including mattresses, sheets, comforters, pads, and protectors. You’ll need to wait until Prime Day to see which products are subject to special discounts, but in the meantime you can browse the AmazonBasics lineup and make a Wish List of items you’d like to purchase.

How much does a Prime membership cost for students?

Currently enrolled students may purchase a Prime membership for $7.49 per month or $69 per year. These rates are significantly lower than those for standard monthly or annual subscriptions.
