The Sleepme Dock Pro Sleep System actively cools or heats your sleep surface. The system consists of the Chilipad Pro, a mesh mattress pad that rests on top of your mattress, and the Dock Pro external control unit that connects to the pad via tubing.

You can program the system between 55 and 115 degrees Fahrenheit, and the dual-control model can make independent adjustments on each side of the bed. Choose between a “Me” system to cover your side of the bed, or a “We” system with two control units that cover the entire mattress and control the temperature on each side independently.

After testing the Dock Pro Sleep System, our team concluded that it’s one of the most advanced mattress pads on the market in terms of active temperature control. We’ll discuss our team’s experience with the Dock Pro Sleep System and explain how it works.

What Does the Sleepme Dock Pro Sleep System Do?

The Dock Pro Sleep System by Sleepme is designed to actively cool or heat your sleep surface. Many cooling mattress pads provide passive temperature control, meaning they’re made from materials that either absorb heat or sleep cool in order to keep you comfortable. Active heating and cooling refers to built-in technology that allows you to make specific temperature adjustments.

The system includes three separate components:

Dock Pro

The Dock Pro control unit funnels water through an internal network of tubes that heat or cool it to your desired temperature. The water then enters the Chilipad Pro mattress pad via a hose connector. The Dock Pro system is designed for use with distilled water only.

You can rest the Dock Pro on any flat surface underneath or next to your bed. Since the unit measures 6.5 inches tall, you may not have enough space to place it under your bed if the frame doesn’t reach this height.

Chilipad Pro

A built-in hose connector links the Chilipad Pro mattress pad to the Dock Pro control unit. You can place this connector at the head or foot of your bed, depending on where you decide to place the control unit.

The Chilipad Pro is composed of polyester mesh and is designed to rest on your sleep surface. Instead of a system of tubes, the pad contains water channels composed of a thin thermoplastic polyurethane membrane. Water continuously circulates through the Chilipad Pro while you sleep, while embedded sensors are engineered to respond to temperature changes.

We found that the Chilipad Pro has an exceptionally slim profile and a flat, uniform feel compared with competing pads with tube-based temperature control systems.

“Me” pads can be secured to your mattress with elastic straps, while “We” pads have an elasticated border that can be tucked around your mattress, much like a fitted sheet. In either case, we found that the pad’s pocket depth is compatible with any mattress between 8 and 18 inches thick.

“We” pads are available in traditional queen, king, and California king dimensions. The “Me” versions of these sizes are the same length and half the width. Keep in mind you can use a king size “Me” Chilipad Pro if you sleep on a twin XL mattress.

The Chilipad Pro is fully machine-washable, making it easy to keep clean, but you must detach the tube connector and fully drain the pad beforehand.

Sleepme App

Previous Sleepme temperature control systems included a wireless remote, but the Dock Pro uses the Sleepme companion app instead. The app is free to download and is compatible with most current iOS and Android smart devices.

You’ll need an active Wi-Fi network to use the app-based controls, as well as Bluetooth connectivity to pair the control unit to your smart device. Alternatively, you can manually adjust the Dock Pro with on-unit controls if you don’t meet these connectivity requirements or if you prefer to keep your phone out of your bedroom.

Whether you use the “We” or “Me” Chilipad Pro, you can customize the temperature on your side of the bed anywhere from 55 to 115 degrees. Our team experimented with a wide range of settings, and the sleep system performed as intended.

The adjustable temperature controls can also function as a noise-free alarm. Using the app, you can create a personalized sleep program with temperature settings for each night of the week. The “Warm Awake” function increases the pad’s temperature leading up to your scheduled wake-up time. You may find this more refreshing and less jarring than a traditional alarm clock or cell phone alarm.

Pros and Cons of the Sleepme Dock Pro Sleep System

ProsCons
  • Wide-ranging temperature controls: The system’s 60-degree temperature range is generous and should suit most people’s preferences. Quick adjustments and intuitive app-based controls also make the system easy to operate.
  • Temperature-based alarm: The “Warm Awake” function is especially useful if you have a hard time getting up to an audible alarm in the morning.
  • Comfortable design: The Chilipad Pro mattress pad is just 1/8th of an inch thick, so you won’t notice any bumps or indentations that affect the comfort level of your sleep surface.
  • Easy cleaning: You can wash and dry the Chilipad Pro in any household machine, including top- and front-loading appliances, making the pad remarkably easy to keep clean.
  • Compatible with most mattresses: Whether you choose a “Me” or “We” system, the pocket depth range of 8 to 18 is compatible with most mattresses on the market today. You can use the pad with twin XL, queen, king, and California king mattresses.
  • Expensive pricing: The high sticker price reflects its cutting-edge design, but cost will be a barrier to shoppers with tighter budgets.
  • Wi-Fi needs: While you can manually adjust the system using on-unit controls, this is more of a hassle compared to making changes with the app. You’ll need an active Wi-Fi network to use the app, which may be problematic if your coverage is spotty.
  • Control unit noise: The Dock Pro control unit produces between 41 and 46 decibels of noise when in use. This is not excessive, but it may be loud enough to disrupt light sleepers. You can somewhat mitigate this issue by placing the connector hose at the foot of your bed.
  • “Me” sizes may bunch: Since the “Me” pad doesn’t fit around all four corners of your mattress, you may notice bunching on the inner side of the pad. This can be especially problematic if you frequently change sleep positions or toss and turn.

If precise temperature control is a top priority and you don’t mind paying extra for customizable heating and cooling, the Sleepme Dock Pro Sleep System can be a great investment. The mattress pad regulates temperature effectively without adding bulk to your sleep surface, and the control unit is compact enough to rest securely on most flat surfaces. Our team was impressed with the user-friendly controls and judged it a solid temperature-regulating product all around.

If you don’t need a specific temperature to sleep comfortably, the Dock Pro Sleep System may not be ideal due to its steep price tag. Recommended regular maintenance can be time-consuming, and the control unit — while not excessively loud — may produce enough noise to disrupt sleep.

Prices and Other Considerations for the Sleepme Dock Pro Sleep System

The Dock Pro Sleep System is fairly expensive, though there are no hidden fees or subscription requirements.

Dock Pro Sleep System Size“Me” Price“We” Price
Queen$1,149$1,899
King$1,399$2,099
California King$1,399$2,099

In addition to cost, there are a few other factors to consider before purchasing the Sleepme Dock Pro Sleep System.

  • Dimensions: The Dock Pro control unit measures 15 inches wide, 12 inches long, and 6.5 inches tall. It weighs about 14 pounds. The “We” versions of the queen, king, and California king Chilipad Pro pad correspond to the dimensions of those standard mattress sizes. The “Me” versions are half as wide. The pad is 1/8th of an inch thick.
  • Reservoir water: You should only use distilled water in the Dock Pro control unit, as tap water can carry trace amounts of sediment that may build up and clog the unit’s interior system over time.
  • Cleaning: You’ll need to perform a few monthly tasks to keep your Dock Pro Sleep System clean. These include draining water from the control unit and wiping the reservoir clean. You should also machine-wash the Chilipad Pro mattress pad at least a few times per year. The Chilipad Pro should be fully drained in the shower before machine-washing it. Detailed care instructions are available on Sleepme’s website.
  • Power requirements: The Dock Pro control unit operates on any AC supply with a voltage of 110 to 240 volts and a current of 50 to 60 hertz.
  • Google connectivity: The Sleepme Dock Pro Sleep System can be paired with Google Home and Google Assistant if you use these platforms.
  • Potential mattress damage: Some condensation can occur beneath the pad if your local climate is prone to high humidity levels. Sleepme recommends using a waterproof mattress protector as a barrier between the Chilipad Pro and your mattress. This helps ensure minimal damage from condensation.
  • Split mattresses: If you share a split adjustable bed with a sleep partner, you should opt for two “Me” Chilipad Pros instead of one “We” pad. This allows you to enjoy a full range of motion from your bed and dual-sided temperature controls.
  • Travel precautions: The Dock Pro Sleep System is travel-friendly, but you should remove all water from the control unit and pad beforehand to reduce the risk of in-transit damage. Storing the system at room temperature can remove any lingering traces of moisture before you leave for your trip. Also, keep in mind you’ll need to refill the control unit with distilled water when you reach your destination, which can be hard to track down in some locations.
