In 2018, Elizabeth Grojean founded Baloo Living from her home in Bali intending to provide weighted blankets appropriate for year-round use. Grojean hoped to help people reduce their anxiety and get a better night’s sleep with products created using environmentally friendly materials.
Baloo strives to be eco-friendly in its materials, packaging, and overall impact, making this company’s products popular with community-focused, environmentally conscious consumers. Baloo is phasing out the use of plastic materials in its packaging in favor of reusable dust bags, and it is carbon neutral through a partnership with Sea Trees by Sustainable Surf.
The company’s product line includes a pillowcase, a duvet cover, a sleep mask, a tone therapy system, and three weighted blanket options, including the following:
Baloo Weighted Blanket: The Baloo Weighted Blanket is the brand’s flagship product and bestseller. This product consists of a cotton shell filled with cotton batting and glass microbeads. It is designed to fit on the top of your bed.
Baloo Weighted Comforter: This weighted comforter is also made of a 100% cotton shell, cotton batting, and glass microbeads. However, the comforter is larger than the Baloo Weighted Blanket to more closely resemble a traditional comforter by draping over the edges of the bed.
Baloo Weighted Throw: Made to cover a twin bed or for use on the couch, this weighted throw is Baloo’s smallest, lightest, and most inexpensive blanket option. Like Baloo’s other blankets, it is made with cotton with a glass microbead fill.
We will focus on the company’s flagship product, the Baloo Weighted Blanket. However, to help give you a full picture of Baloo’s offerings, we’ll also provide information on Baloo’s other weighted blankets. We’ll discuss the Baloo Weighted Blanket’s design, materials, and performance, in addition to providing information on company policies, like shipping and returns.

A recent study concluded that weighted blankets may help some people with anxiety and other conditions achieve a better night’s sleep, and that’s exactly what the Baloo Weighted Blanket was designed to do.
Made using chemical-free cotton and lab-tested lead-free glass microbeads, the Baloo Weighted Blanket is one of the few models on the market that contains no synthetic materials. This helps make it cool and breathable enough for most climates. The Baloo Weighted Blanket is also all-natural and certified vegan.
Because of its unique construction, the Baloo Weighted Blanket may be ideal for eco-friendly consumers and people who sleep hot. It scores highly across our performance categories and comes in three of the most popular weight options, so it should accommodate most adult sleepers.
Baloo’s weight and size options vary between models. The Baloo Weighted Blanket and the Baloo Weighted Comforter are both available in full/queen size or king size, while the Baloo Weighted Throw is available in only one size, which is well suited for a twin size bed or the couch. Baloo also recommends its Weighted Throw to couples, suggesting one for each partner instead of sharing.
While the Throw weighs 12 pounds, the Baloo Weighted Blanket and the Weighted Comforter each come in three weight options: 15, 20, and 25 pounds.
Baloo’s weighted blankets are all crafted of cotton with a lead-free glass microbead fill. Double stitching helps prevent fill leakage and pooling. Most options are exclusively sold with a white cover, but the throw is also available in three colors derived from natural, plant-based dyes: clay, silver sage, and thistle.
|Product||Size Options||Weight Options||Fill Material||Shell Material||Dimensions|

|Baloo Weighted Comforter||Full/Queen, King||Full/Queen: 15 lbs., 20 lbs.

|Baloo Weighted Throw||Throw||12 lbs.||Glass Microbeads, Cotton Batting||Cotton||42” x 72”|
Baloo’s flagship product, the Baloo Weighted Comforter, is the company’s mid-priced option. While it contains natural materials that usually increase a model’s price tag, the Baloo Weighted Blanket’s cost is close to the middle of the average range for weighted blankets. This may enhance its value for customers. The company’s smallest and lightest blanket, the Baloo Weighted Throw, is the most affordable choice by the brand, and the Weighted Comforter is the most expensive due to its larger size.
Before you purchase a weighted blanket, Baloo recommends taking its sleep quiz. This quiz asks lifestyle questions to pinpoint your needs and prompts you to consider the size of your bed and whether or not the blanket will be shared. Once you have finished the quiz, Baloo will recommend a blanket model, size, and weight for you.

When deciding which weighted blanket is right for you, it’s important to consider the fill and shell materials, fill distribution, durability, temperature control, and weight options.
The Baloo Weighted Blanket earns its highest scores in material quality and temperature regulation. This blanket’s all-natural, quilted cotton shell and glass microbead fill are high-quality, breathable materials that help limit heat absorption to reduce the potential for overheating. However, cotton batting also adds a plush, cozy feel that should help sleepers stay warm when temperatures drop, making the Baloo Weighted Blanket appropriate for year-round use.
The blanket receives slightly lower ratings for distribution of fill, durability, and weight options, though it still scores well in these categories.
Three weight options are available for the standard blanket: 15, 20, and 25 pounds. The throw blanket weighs 12 pounds. Since these are some of the most popular weight options, they should be able to accommodate most adults.
The glass bead fill is sewn into square and rectangular pockets throughout the blanket to help prevent bunching and pooling. The Baloo Weighted Blanket should enjoy an above-average lifespan due to its cotton shell, cotton batting, and glass bead fill, which should last longer than the plastic pellets and polyester shell and fill that some competitors use.
Generally, the right weighted blanket for you will be around 10% of your body weight. For example, if you weigh about 250 pounds, a 25-pound blanket would probably be best for you.
Additionally, consider the blanket size when choosing a weight option. Since larger sizes distribute the weight over a wider area than smaller models, they may feel lighter.
Baloo also recommends choosing a blanket weight based on your preferred sleep position. Side sleepers might prefer a lighter blanket, while back and stomach sleepers may favor a heavier option. Individuals with joint problems and those under 18 or over 65 may also benefit from a lighter weighted blanket.
Regardless of the weight of your blanket, you should check with a physician before purchasing if you have sleep apnea or other underlying health issues. Baloo’s weight options are not well suited for most children. If you’re shopping for a weighted blanket for a child, consult with their doctor to determine whether they are old enough.
If you don’t think the Baloo Weight Blanket is right for you but you’re still interested in finding another model, you might consider one of the other best weighted blankets on the market.
