The Stearns and Foster Estate Hurston Mattress is a well-priced hybrid model that includes both gel-infused polyfoam and memory foam along with a core of pocketed coils to combine pressure relief and spinal support. Although this is one of the most affordably priced models offered by the popular brand, it still utilizes high-quality materials like those you find in its more expensive models.
One of the nice features included with this mattress is a border of pocketed coils around the bed, which are intended to offer additional edge support. The cover also uses Tencel lyocell, which is designed for breathability and moisture-wicking for temperature control. The cover includes copper air vents for enhanced airflow, and built-in handles make the mattress easier to move.

Side Sleepers

While side sleepers under 130 pounds are likely to get the most out of the Plush (medium soft) mattress, anyone between 130 and 230 pounds will probably get a better night’s sleep with the Cushion Firm (medium firm). While individuals who weigh over 230 may rest comfortably on any of the three firmness options, they may not experience ideal contouring and support. The best mattresses for heavy sleepers are generally pretty firm.
Back Sleepers
Thanks to its close-conforming foam comfort system and supportive coil core, the Estate Hurston Mattress is an excellent option for most back sleepers. However, selecting the optimal firmness level is critical.
If you sleep on your back, chances are that you’ll want to avoid the Plush version of the Estate Hurston Mattress, as it will likely be a bit too soft for most sleepers. This firmness level is designed to let the body sink in, which may allow sagging near the midsection that could contribute to spinal misalignment.
However, both the Cushion Firm and Firm mattresses have received great ratings for back sleepers, because they provide more support to limit midsection sinkage and promote healthy sleep posture.
Stomach Sleepers
Those who prefer to sleep on their stomachs tend to need extra support to reduce midsection sagging that could cause back pain from spinal misalignment. The Estate Hurston’s polyfoam and memory foam comfort system helps cushion a stomach sleeper’s body, while an extra layer near the middle of the bed limits sinkage. Smaller coils nestled within the core’s larger springs further enhance the support.
If you’re a stomach sleeper, you’ll probably want to consider either the Cushion Firm or Firm Estate Hurston. These options provide stable support for many stomach sleepers. In particular, the Firm version allows very little sinkage for stomach sleepers of all weights.
The Plush option might also be appropriate for stomach sleepers under 130 pounds, but heavier individuals may be pulled too deeply into the bed by weight around their hips and stomachs.

The Stearns and Foster Estate Hurston Mattress is available in three firmness levels: Plush (medium soft), Cushion Firm (medium firm), and Firm (true firm).
This hybrid model combines gel-infused polyfoam, gel-infused memory foam, and pocketed coils.
A Tencel lyocell cover encases the mattress to wick away moisture while letting air circulate into the bed. It is quilted with gel-infused polyfoam designed to add cushioning without trapping a lot of heat. Copper vents along the side add to the bed’s breathability, and handles make the bed easier to move.
Underneath the cover, an additional 2 inches of gel-infused polyfoam further enhances the contouring. A .5-inch layer of gel-infused memory foam adds deeper cradling while limiting the risk of sinking in against the firm core.
The support system uses dual-stage coils, which have a coil-in-coil design intended to optimize comfort and support. Each spring is pocketed to reduce motion transfer, and narrower coils around the perimeter are designed to offer good edge support and prevent sagging.
