Soft Side: 4/5, Firm Side: 3/5
Both sides of the Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid effectively absorb vibrations. Its pocketed coils are better at limiting motion transfer than traditional springs since they move independently of each other. Stronger motion isolation typically means fewer disturbances, which can be an asset for couples.
The softer side is slightly better at isolating motion than the firm side due to its plush polyfoam comfort system. However, either side should absorb movement well enough to satisfy most sleepers.
Soft Side: 4/5, Firm Side: 3/5
The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid’s substantial comfort layers contour to the body and reduce tension for notable pressure relief. The softer side earns higher marks than the firm side, but optimal pressure relief ultimately depends on choosing the right firmness level for your weight and sleep position.
Both sides include CopperFlex foam that redistributes pressure to enhance comfort. The softer side also features 2 inches of Energex foam, which was developed to combine the pressure relief of memory foam and the slight bounce of latex. This material softens in response to body heat, thereby molding to the sleeper’s shape.
Meanwhile, the firm side uses 2 inches of high-density polyfoam to limit excessive sinkage that could otherwise contribute to pressure points or lower back pain.
Soft Side: 3/5, Firm Side: 4/5
Some mattresses contribute to overheating, but the Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid regulates temperatures well.
Both sides are covered in breathable Upcycle fabric designed to draw heat away from the body. Additionally, the comfort layers include copper infusions intended to cool the surface. The firm side is slightly better at temperature control than the softer side because its comfort system doesn’t conform as closely.
The support pocketed coil support core also promotes temperature neutrality by creating gaps for air to circulate.
Soft Side: 3/5, Firm Side: 4/5
The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid is unlikely to create the sensation of rolling off the bed that sometimes occurs with weak edge support. The sturdy coil core strengthens the perimeter, helping to maximize usable surface area.
The firm side offers more edge support since its comfort system is firmer and slightly thinner. The softer side uses more conforming polyfoam, so sleepers sink in more when they sit or lie along the edge.
Soft Side: 3/5, Firm Side: 4/5
Mattresses with springs usually offer ease of movement, and the Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid is no exception.
All-foam mattresses, very soft models, and those with thick layers of memory foam can sometimes restrict movement since the body receives more hug and less pushback. The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid’s spring system, firmness levels, and use of polyfoam should enable sleepers to change positions without struggling to get out of a deep body impression.
The firm side performs better in this area because it doesn’t allow sleepers to sink in as deeply. However, the bounce from the coil core and the responsiveness of the polyfoam should also make it fairly easy to move around on the soft side.
Soft Side: 3/5, Firm Side: 4/5
The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid is conducive to sex. Thanks to the coil core, both sleep surfaces have some bounce. The firm side slightly outperforms the soft side because its less yielding surface gives couples greater support, temperature regulation, and ease of movement.
Since the pocketed coils move independently of each other, the mattress is likely to stay relatively quiet. If noises occur, the foam layers should help dampen them.
It’s not uncommon for a new mattress to emit an odor, particularly if it contains foam. Off-gassing occurs when volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from manufacturing release into the air. The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid has moderate off-gassing, but odors should dissipate in a few hours to a few days in a ventilated room.

Side Sleepers:
The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid Mattress performs well for all side sleepers, but which side is best depends on body type.
Side sleepers usually benefit from a plusher surface that can alleviate pressure on the hips and shoulders. The soft side of this model has a 4-inch polyfoam comfort system that cradles and cushions the curves of side sleepers who weigh less than 230 pounds. Since the firm side uses a firmer 3-inch comfort system, it may provide better support for side sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds.
Back Sleepers:
Thanks to its sturdy coil core, both sides of the Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid Mattress give back sleepers the support they need to promote good sleep posture.
The mattress’ firm side is well-suited for back sleepers of any weight group, as its layer of high-density polyfoam keeps sinkage to a minimum. However, some individuals who weigh under 230 pounds may prefer the extra cradling of the soft side.
Stomach Sleepers:
Most stomach sleepers should do well with the firm side of the Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid. Its firmness level and high-density polyfoam layer are supportive enough to help prevent the stomach from sagging and the spine from arching.
The soft side may be less ideal for some stomach sleepers. Its medium soft feel might permit too much sagging in the abdomen area, especially for stomach sleepers over 230 pounds. However, some individuals under 130 pounds may like the extra cushioning.
Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown
The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid Mattress is a flippable model with a 13-inch profile. One side has a medium soft feel (4), while the reverse side is firm (7). Two distinct surfaces give sleepers a chance to try out different firmness levels or make adjustments if their preferences change over time.
Both sides of the mattress are covered with Upcycle, a mineral-infused fabric designed to turn body heat into far infrared rays. This technology is intended to cool the surface and improve blood circulation.
The firm side starts with 1 inch of CopperFlex foam engineered to offer responsive support based on a sleeper’s unique contours. A copper infusion is intended to draw out excess heat and moisture, which can help sleepers stay cool. Copper is also thought to have antimicrobial properties. The next 2-inch layer of high-density polyfoam minimizes sagging to promote better posture. The firm comfort system doesn’t cradle the body as much as softer foam, allowing more airflow.
The soft side uses 2 inches of CopperFlex foam to cradle the body and reduce tension. Underneath, 2 inches of Energex foam enhances the pressure relief.
Wedged between the two comfort systems, a 6-inch support core uses up to 1,032 Ascension springs. These individually wrapped coils give the mattress added bounce and breathability while limiting motion transfer. All-foam models sometimes make sleepers feel trapped in the bed, but a coil core often makes movement easier.
The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid is compatible with most box springs, platforms, and slat foundations. The foam is CertiPUR-US certified, showing that it has been tested for known harmful substances.

Mattress Prices and Sizing
Hybrids often cost more than other mattress types since they tend to use more complicated construction methods. Most hybrid queen mattresses cost around $2,000, but some models cost quite a bit less or significantly more. The Propel Dual-Sided Hybrid Mattress is competitively priced compared to designs of similar quality.
The mattress is available in the six standard sizes. As is standard, price increases with size.
