Sleepme offers products designed to help prevent sleepers from overheating throughout the night. The company offers a lineup of bedding and cooling sleep systems including the Dock Pro, OOLER, and Cube.

The Cube Sleep System with Chili Cool Mesh Pad is a mattress pad with integrated water tubes. The tubes connect to a control unit that allows users to adjust the temperature using a remote control. The mattress pad can fit a queen, king, or California king size bed, and it is offered in half sizes for individual sleepers.

Many people struggle to sleep when they are too hot or cold, and mattresses made with heat-retaining materials such as memory foam can aggravate this problem. If you’re looking for a way to sleep cooler without changing your mattress, the Cube may be an intriguing option.

We’ll examine the construction and setup of the Cube and compare it to the OOLER Sleep System to help you decide if it could suit your needs.

What Is the Cube Sleep System?

The Cube Sleep System is a cooling mattress pad. Unlike most cooling mattress pads, which use gel infusions or other materials to draw heat away from the body, the Cube Sleep System contains integrated water tubes that allow users to set it to their preferred temperature.

The Cube Sleep System includes the mattress pad, a portable control unit and water tank, and a remote control. The control unit connects to the mattress pad via 8 feet of silicone tubing.

The control unit cools or warms the water and circulates it through the mattress pad at the sleeper’s desired temperature. Sleepers can preset the temperature before going to bed and adjust the temperature using the remote control. Because the Chili Cool Mesh Pad is thin, it can be used on top of a mattress without affecting the contouring properties of the mattress. With a temperature range extending from 55 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit, the Chili Cool Mesh Pad is useful not only for hot sleepers, but also for sleepers who prefer a warmer sleep surface. Couples can control each side individually, so that each person can sleep at the temperature they find most comfortable.

Cube Sleep System Review Breakdown

The Cube Sleep System is an excellent choice for those who want absolute control over their sleeping temperature. As it’s available in full or half sizes, the Cube is suitable for use by individuals or couples. Sleepers can adjust the temperature from the comfort of their bed using the remote control.

Shoppers should pay close attention to the materials and construction of the Cube before purchasing, as it does not function like other mattress toppers. Due to its ultra-thin construction, the Cube has little to no effect on the feel of the mattress. If you’re looking to change your mattress firmness or add certain benefits like motion isolation or resilience, this product may not be the best fit. However, the Cube may present a more affordable alternative than purchasing a new mattress if your current mattress sleeps hot.

Sleepme also sells an upgraded version of the Cube, called the OOLER. Both products have a high price tag, but the OOLER is designed to offer more powerful cooling and heating abilities. We’ll do a quick comparison of the two products to help you decide which is better for you. We’ll also cover sleep trial, warranty, and shipping policies, and discuss how to care for your Cube so you can get the most out of your investment.

Materials and Construction

The Chili Cool Mesh Pad is .25 inch thick and consists of a network of fine silicone tubes wrapped in a polyester cover. The underside of the pad is a breathable polyester-cotton mesh grid. Because of the mesh pad’s thin profile, body impressions and sagging are not an issue. Elastic attachments on each corner keep the pad securely anchored in place on the mattress.

Both the Cube and OOLER are available in full or half size queen, king, and California king options to accommodate one or two sleepers. The Cube does not off-gas in the traditional sense. Any packaging smells associated with the product should dissipate within a day.

The Cube control unit is also relatively quiet, with a noise level of approximately 55 decibels from a distance of 1 foot. This white noise shouldn’t bother most sleepers, but if you are sensitive to sound, the OOLER has a silent mode that is quieter.

Cube Sleep System Performance

The Cube Sleep System offers a wide range of temperature options from 55 to 115 degrees, giving sleepers more exact control over their sleep temperature. Sleepme recommends sleeping with a heavy blanket to help prevent the heat or cold from escaping.

A notable benefit of the Cube is how easy it is to set up and use. First, attach the mattress pad to your mattress using the elastic straps. Place the water tubes face up, and cover the pad with a fitted sheet. The tubes that connect the mattress pad to the control unit can be placed at the head or the foot of your bed. You may also opt to use a mattress protector underneath the Chili Cool Mesh Pad to protect your mattress in case of humidity.

When you’re ready to use the Cube, connect the tubes from the pad to the control unit. Fill the 13-ounce water tank with distilled water, plug it in, and turn it on. Turn on the remote control by pressing the power button, and use the hot and cold buttons to raise or lower the temperature of your mattress pad. The unit cools or heats the water to the right temperature and cycles it through the mattress pad. You can use the remote control to adjust the temperature at any time.

The control unit is best placed next to your bed, as it needs 18 inches free on all sides for proper ventilation. For sleepers who don’t know their ideal sleep temperature, Sleepme recommends starting at 65 degrees and adjusting up and down as needed. Before using the Cube for the first time, consult the full instructions on Sleepme’s website.

Cleaning and Care

Both the Cube and the control unit should be cleaned regularly to keep them in top condition. To minimize allergens and combat against buildup of dirt and sweat, it is advisable to wash sheets and pillowcases at least once a week. Since the mattress pad will be just below your fitted sheet, consider washing it each time you wash your sheets.

The pad can be washed in a household washing machine, preferably a front-loading model or one without an agitator. Sleepme recommends using a rubber band to tie the tubing, and washing the mattress pad in cold water on a delicate cycle. The mattress pad can be tumble dried on the delicate cycle with no heat. It should never be bleached, ironed, or dry cleaned. Do not reconnect the tubing to a power source until you are sure it is fully dry.

You should also clean the control unit once a month by emptying it out, filling it with distilled water and Cube cleaning solution, running it on high for 1 hour, and then draining it. Keep the vents clean by blowing away dirt and dust with a can of compressed air.

Cube vs. OOLER Sleep System

While the materials and construction of the Cube and OOLER are similar, there are some distinct differences that separate these models. Unlike the Cube, the OOLER is controlled by an app that allows users to set not only temperatures, but also alarms and sleep schedules. The OOLER control unit also has a slimmer, more convenient design that can fit under most beds.

The OOLER app allows users to auto-adjust the temperature of the mattress pad at certain times of the night and set an alarm that will heat up the mattress pad at a specific time. For users who prefer not to utilize the app, the OOLER can be controlled manually. The OOLER control unit also has an auto-clean function, whereas the Cube requires monthly manual cleaning.

Both units are made with the same materials, use the same hydrotechnology, and offer the same temperature range and size options. However, because of its app compatibility and sleeker design, the OOLER has a higher price-point than the Cube. Budget-conscious shoppers who don’t require as many features may be drawn to the Cube’s lower price-point.
