Emma is an international mattress and sleep accessory company. Founded in Frankfurt, Germany, the company now operates across five continents. Emma established a presence in the U.S. with the Emma Original Mattress, a reasonably priced foam bed that’s conforming yet breathable. This mattress was previously known as the ComfortAdapt All-Foam Mattress.
The Emma Original features a four-layer construction beginning with a memory foam comfort layer. The mattress is backed by Emma’s lengthy 365-night sleep trial.

Like many memory foam mattresses, the Emma Original is highly contouring with very good pressure relief. These attributes are ideal for side sleepers, since this sleep position places a great deal of pressure on the hips and shoulders.
The top memory foam comfort layer cushions and cradles these critical areas so that a side sleeper’s weight is more evenly distributed. The additional layers of polyfoam deepen the contouring while providing spinal support.
As a result, the Original is comfortable for nearly any side sleeper. The medium (5) feel is especially well suited to those under 230 pounds. However, heavier side sleepers who like a plusher sleep surface should also enjoy the mattress.
Back Sleepers
The Emma Original’s medium feel is comfortable for many back sleepers, but those over 230 pounds may need more support.
The top memory foam comfort layer cradles a back sleeper’s hips and contours to the curve of their lower back. The bed’s lower polyfoam layers provide enough support to help sleepers under 230 pounds maintain good spinal alignment. However, back sleepers who weigh over 230 pounds may find that they sink too deeply around their hips, potentially putting strain on their lumbar region.
Stomach Sleepers
The Emma Original works well for stomach sleepers weighing up to 230 pounds. Stomach sleepers tend to need less contouring and more support than those who favor other positions.
The layers of polyfoam underneath the top memory foam layer provide enough support to help most stomach sleepers under 230 pounds maintain a neutral spine position. However, stomach sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds may sink too deeply around their midsections, putting pressure on their lower backs.

The Original is Emma’s foam model. It features a breathable polyester blend cover with handle straps on the sides to make moving the mattress easier.
The comfort system consists of two distinct layers. The top layer is 1.5 inches of contouring memory foam that hugs the body. The second layer is 1.5 inches of polyfoam designed to provide additional contouring and resilience. Both of the comfort layers feature Emma’s ParticleCool infusion engineered for temperature regulation.
A 3-inch layer of transitional polyfoam helps reinforce the comfort system. A final 5-inch layer of firm polyfoam provides stable support and improves the durability of the bed.
The four layers of the Emma Original sit 11 inches tall and create a medium (5) feel. All of the foams are CertiPUR-US certified, indicating they’re free of certain potentially harmful substances, including heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates.

Availability
The Emma Original is available through the Emma website. The company does not operate any brick-and-mortar stores. Emma mattresses are not available through third-party retailers.
Shipping
Emma offers free shipping to the contiguous United States. The company ships its bed directly from the warehouse using FedEx or UPS. Shipping times usually range from 3 to 7 business days but may vary depending on your location.
The Emma Original is compressed, sealed in plastic, and boxed for easy shipping. No assembly is required. However, once the mattress arrives, customers need to move it into their home, unbox it, remove the plastic wrapping, and allow the new mattress to decompress.
Additional Services
Emma does not offer White Glove services. However, the company provides old mattress removal in California. Eligible customers can contact customer service to schedule a pickup time.
Sleep Trial
The Emma Original comes with a 365-night sleep trial. The company asks that you try the bed for at least 30 nights to give your body time to adjust. If you decide you’re not happy with the mattress during the rest of the 365-night window, you can return it for a full refund of the purchase price.
Warranty
The Emma Original is protected by Emma’s 10-year warranty. If qualifying defects arise with the materials or workmanship, Emma may replace your mattress for no charge, at the company’s discretion. Eligible defects include cracking in the foam and indentations greater than 1.5 inches.
