2008 Chairman's Challenge

Dear Friends of NSF,

For the past year, I have had the privilege of serving as the volunteer Chairman of the Board of the National Sleep Foundation (NSF). In this capacity, I have worked with dedicated volunteers — both NSF board members and other members of the sleep science and medicine community — to increase public understanding of the importance of sleep to health, safety and productivity.

This year’s National Sleep Awareness Week® public education campaign and NSF’s Sleep in America poll focused worldwide attention on the price Americans and their employers are paying economically and personally due to inadequate sleep and untreated sleep disorders. Thanks to NSF, this story continues to run in all media with the promise of reaching tens of millions more in the months ahead.

To build on the momentum of this year’s public education initiatives, NSF needs your generous financial support. No other organization does what NSF does, and if we falter, no other organization will step in to fill its shoes.

That is why I am launching the 2008 Chairman’s Challenge. The goal of the Chairman’s Challenge is to add 500 new and renewed contributors to NSF by May 30, 2008. I’d like to invite you to be one of them. To reach this goal, we need your help. Please join me and the members of NSF’s Board of Directors in making a generous financial contribution and encouraging your colleagues, family members and friends to do so as well. We will all sleep better.

Sincerely,

Meir H. Kryger, MD
Chairman, National Sleep Foundation
