National Sleep Foundation Announces 2012 Sleep in America Poll Topic

New Poll to Examine Transportation Workers and Sleep

ARLINGTON, VA, February 9, 2012 - The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) announced today that its 2012 Sleep in America® poll topic is "Planes, Trains, Automobiles, Trucks, Buses and Sleep." It will explore the reported effects of sleep on the job performance and safety of pilots, train workers, truckers, bus and taxi drivers—the people we trust to transport us safely each day.

The NSF will release the poll results on March 5, 2012 to kick off National Sleep Awareness Week®. An embargoed press release will be available on February 27, 2012 to media and NSF members.

The National Sleep Foundation's annual Sleep in America® poll is a popular health story each year. The NSF first released an annual Sleep in America® poll in 1991 and each year uses the poll to kick off National Sleep Awareness Week®. Last year's results revealed the pervasive use of communications technology before bed in 13-64 year olds. Prior poll results are available at www.sleepfoundation.org.
