Reading is always a good activity, and reading before bed is a particularly good choice for kids of all ages and for parents. A relaxing, routine activity like reading right before bedtime helps separate your sleep time from activities that can cause excitement, stress or anxiety. Here are some new books that might help you understand more about the importance of getting a good night's sleep.

The Insomnia Workbook The Insomnia Workbook
This self-help workbook — written by Stephanie A. Silberman, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist and diplomat for the American Board of Sleep Medicine — includes tools to better understand insomnia and create a plan for improving your sleep.

Botts' Dots and the Rumble LineBotts' Dots and the Rumble Line
This children's book — written by Michael Simmons, a practicing dentist and an educator at the dental schools of both the University of Southern California and the University of California in Los Angeles — seeks to inform the public about the troubles of sleep-disordered breathing through the adventures of the imaginary town of Snordom, whose citizens are civilized boars that snore excessively.
