The National Sleep Foundation Sleep Health & Safety conference begins today, March 17, 2011 at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC. If you are unable to attend, you can follow our Twitter feed for presentation re-caps, and feedback on abstracts being presented at the conference. Attendees and the general public are invited to tweet questions to our conference presenters - just send your tweets @sleepfoundation and use hashtags #sleephealth2011 or #sleepabstract2011.
The conference will feature eminent faculty members in sleep medicine and research, primary care, government, and transportation safety. Abstracts on the latest sleep science research will be presented. Throughout the conference, the Exhibit Hall will showcase the latest products and services from a variety of companies in the sleep field.
The National Sleep Foundation will also hold its Annual Awards Dinner during Sleep Health & Safety. The event recognizes outstanding contributions in sleep science, health and safety. The 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award honoree is Robert Y. Moore, MD, PhD, for his discovery of the neurophysiological basis of the human clock. Gregory Belenky, MD will receive the Excellence in Sleep and Performance Research Award, Lorraine L. Wearley, PhD will receive the Sleep Health & Safety Leadership Award, and Peter Hauri, PhD will receive the award for Excellence in Insomnia Research and Education.
